A dog and pony appeal to the religious right. I think this is about as low as you can slime in politics. What's sad is that Americans elect these idiots.

Truly is sad. Anymore politicians are born from talking points and not from the actual substance of an issue. People in general need to walk away from right or left news and really look up what's being talked about. There is spin on both sides to appeal to their respective bases. More people need to use it as "Oh I like that issue" moment and then do the research to see if the talking points tell the actual story. Informed Decision 2012. Intelligence and Common Sense 2012, Not Republican Or Democrat. Vote on the issues and individuals and not Red or Blue

Hoping for the best is all well and good, but you still have to put in the effort. Some times your best isn't enough but that's life. I'd feel a lot better knowing that I did my best, then just falling on my knees and praying. Then again, that's me.

The only thing I hate worse than a venal, amoral, hypocrite who puts God on the same level as a carnival barker or the guy who stands outside of the strip to lure people in, ( C'mon inside we got salvation all over the place, and virgins, virgins, virgins. Just leave your money at the door, and step inside! For a small additional fee we will answer all your prayers, and make you rich. Come one come all!) just to agrandise him or her self, is the pathetic, servile people who actually fall for that crap
If I was God,,,,oooo would I be pissed! - 11 months ago

Sad thing is this is what the Republicans are showing as people they want to run for President. Bachmann hasn't done this but has definitely made it clear her religion will dictate policy decisions. Which if they would read the constitution which they so proudly wave around and commonly misquote they would know this is not acceptable. So tired of the right constantly saying I believe in our founding fathers laid down for us when it suits their agenda and piss on it the rest of the time

Which is why I don't worry much about them actually winning in 2012. Their Christian agendas in no way represent the majority of the country.
I'm with you on the constant misquoting of the constitution. I believe if any of the Republican candidates ever find out the Founding Fathers were enlightened Deists, their heads might explode. - 11 months ago

lol. Yea seriously this guy has failed. Just because his base voted and got him elected, doesn't mean he can alienate everyone else in the state. He's supposed to Govern the WHOLE state not just his base. Since I don't have a religion and since hell is if you believe in a religion, I need a word so I can tell him to go there lol Any suggestions? Maybe Go to the Moon? doesn't quite have a good ring to it

No, this should not be on the state web site. That's the strictist violation of the separation of church and state. As I posted under kenny's thread about this:
This country has jumped the shark! We are not only a plutocracy, corpocracy, theocracy....we now are also officially an Idiocracy! BTW, my husband and I will be at our fave bar on August 6th getting drunk off our asses! The only thing I may be on my knees to will be the porcelain buddha!

My response is to start....
Fixin thangs? Pray and Fast because we outta food. then rise up and take our country back from these crazy religious Hypa-Christians. Don't be suprised if on august sixth something bad happens to all those poor people that fell for this and Perry survives with a bullet in his brain and declares himself god. It was all preplanned at the Koch Bros meeting he attended. - 11 months ago

Economic Collapse? They speak of perversion division and abuse? Natural disaster? Terrorism? Depression? All this can be fixed by praying and fasting? Not that I care if you pray for something, but this whole thing makes it seem like prayer is the only answer that will save our country. Action of the people is what is needed not the inaction of the current right wing and even some on the left.

I value you our differences as humans, an one's beliefs is part of that. I have found good wisdom from certain parts of the bible, as well as the book of Mormon, as well as other religions. Also Bartlet's Book of quotes ;-). I do not feel the need to embrace one religion over another or even any religion to be a good person. People put to much focus on the I'm better than you, My religion is right, and not yours. We're #1 attitude is a little stupid in my mind unless it's in sports. We need to be better for ourselves to enrich our lives for the sake of being human, not for a title.War, We are right attitude has plagued this world since the beginning. Don't get me wrong there are reason to go to war, but too many times it has been for the wrong reason. Just like Iraq, I don't feel that's a war that should of been waged, however I fully support the Men and Women who have fought and died there. I can support the troops even though I don't support the war. The right wing thinks otherwise but to hell with them. To me it comes down to, We are all different and we are all the same, the differences are what makes life interesting and should be celebrated and not demonized
