That ad was awful, but this one is, by far, the worst I've seen.

Progresshiv,
I saw this the night it aired and I LMAO! So did my husband! Speaking from a female point a view, I'm glad Colbert did this skit because women are tired of being bombared with ads like this because for years the marketing has always implied "women smell." Not true, I find it insulting and as an old seventies chick, all a woman needs to do is take a plain water bath. That's it. No chemicals needed. - 10 months ago

Well, some women are prone to infection, but the way to take care of your cooter is not to mask the symptoms with chemicals which may ultimately hurt your health.
(Going "Public Health Message" on you now)
If you think you smell bad, you need to go to a doctor because that is a sign of infection, and the last thing you need to do is feel ashamed and cover it up. That just means you'll wait longer to seek the medical attention you need. A lot of things can cause odor (PH imbalances, infections etc.) and the best (holistic) way to take care of it is to prevent it from getting infected to begin with by taking a bath with a fair amount of vinegar in it (though it won't make you smell pretty), drink lots of water, go pee after sex, use toilet paper that doesn't fall to pieces when you wipe, wear loose fitting pants and breathable underwear etc. For acute symptoms (like itching, trouble urinating, odor) drink 1oz of 100% cranberry juice (the juice cocktails have a lot of sugar in it which exacerbates the problem) once a day, or take cranberry and/or olive leaf capsules, or use witch hazel wipes. Basically, think clean and dry.
If you're infection prone or if you think you're developing one, steer clear of sugar and alcohol. Most girls don't know this but you aren't supposed to use ANYTHING scented on your vagina, including (maybe even especially) soap, pads, tampons, douches, toilet paper, etc. If you don't have the most gentle, hypo-allergenic, un-scented soap you can find, don't use it on your poor vajayjay.
Of course, you need to get check-ups regularly too. - 10 months ago

I do all those things, Almibry. I do take vinegar baths as well, not only plain water. Include on your list Acidophilus and B-Complex. I take both and it works re: yeast infections. Take double doses of both if you're on antibiotics. This is a great "Public Health Message" though. It's what every woman needs to know. This will educate the guys, too. :)

I totally agree with your excellent and informative post almibry...but I would add this. Unfortunately, as the right wing thugs take over, women and girls will have LESS access to medical care, especially preventative care. There should be more discussion such as yours in the media and within women’s organizations. Girls,, even before they become sexually active, need to be educated....I can't emphasize this enough!!!! Many women simply do not have the facts and depend of advice from friends, family or from stupid ads like the one above. The chemicals advertised are often the cause of or worsen any vaginal infection. As a nurse and an educator I am often seriously surprised at the lack of knowledge even of college women related to their body. I want to emphasize a point almibry made.... Women who suffer from frequent bladder infections could be saved a whole lot of pain and money for Dr. appts with this bit of advice. When you have sex, immediately get up and pee! Germs, little critters that hang around your rectal area (this does not mean you are unclean, it's simply nature!!! AND from your partner can get pushed into the urethra (pee hole). These critters’ short medical name is E-coli and DO NOT BELONG IN OUR URETHRA. Our urethra is only a couple inches long +/- and it takes a very short time...not even an hour, for the critters to travel to the bladder where they simmer into a bladder infection. Peeing flushed the urethra and any critters that may have found their way there. You should also insist...now this is going to sound gross, but your partner is clean….including his hands. (taking showers together before sex is a nice way to start ; ) Think about it..think where hands go and what they touch in normal course of a day. Then they touch you. It's not you that's unclean..it's what touches you that can cause you infections. My sister LADIES……insist on RESPECT for every inch of your body!
