How is it sexist when this is what Michelle Bachmann really looks like all the time!

Image

The straight-ahead shot of Michelle Bachmann on the cover of this week's Newsweek, taken by freelance photographer Chris Buck in a Washington, D.C., hotel room, “raises eyebrows,” according to The Huffington Post. “There’s no denying that Bachmann firmly believes what she believes. Some might think she’s crazy because of it. Cover photos like this one help to cement that image,” wrote The Washington Post’s Jonathan Capehart. “It’s sexist,” NOW president Terry O’Neill told The Daily Caller. “Casting her in that expression and then adding ‘The Queen of Rage’ I think [it is]. Gloria Steinem has a very simple test: If this were done to a man or would it ever be done to a man—has it ever been done to a man? Surely this has never been done to a man.” (Steinem was actually featured in the same issue of Newsweek). Said Newsweek editor in chief Tina Brown in a statement, “Michele Bachmann’s intensity is galvanizing voters in Iowa right now and Newsweek’s cover captures that." Many of the photographs taken for the feature showed Bachmann with similar intensity. Here are more images from the shoot, including some used inside the magazine, showing Bachmann in the nation’s capital and on the trail in Iowa.

    • People do weird things and then they blame others. Like Boehner's tan and crying fits. When people do extreme things, they are just going to get made fun of, pure & simple. She posed for that pic, right? No one made her have Manson eyes but her.

    • As of this morning 8/10/2011 the Bachmann campaign is now hosting a country band and a petting zoo. Toss in a Dunking Donuts and we will have bread and circuses. Now all she needs is a clown face.

    • "Bachmann has said that her husband directed her to study tax law, and she obliged because “the Lord says: be submissive, wives; you are to be submissive to your husbands.” Asked about her choice of words, she explains, “That means that I respect my husband, and he respects me.” But in a Bachmann White House, she adds, “I would be the decision maker.”"

Being Submissive means to allow your husband to be the leader of the house-hold. That means you don't get to make the decisions.
Then man told you what career path to take, and you did it. That's a big decision that you DIDN'T get to make.
Michelle Bachmann is a horrible role-model for women. Let women think for themselves, and do as they wish.
The more thinking they do on their own, the less I have to do for them.

We are supposed to believe in her just because she has a vagina. Personally, I think the smartest women would never subject themselves to the political process, or if they are incredibly smart, a cover picture they posed for would not bother them.

I saw right through her ......“That means that I respect my husband, and he respects me.” B.S. she was spewing. I lived in Florida for 10 years and ran into many a Bible thumper who were very open about women staying in their place. Being Submissive to your husband on her planet means to allow your husband to be the leader of the house-hold. Every time I met one of those wakos....I was looked down apon because I did construction work for 10 years in the D.C. area. They said I had taken work from a man......Right-Wing Christian Nutjobs!!!!

    • The question needing to be asked is why is this candidate or that candidate being pushed to the top of the butter churn and put on your plate? More specifically why are TWO "Christian nutjobs" coming to the top hmm?

Because the Puppet Masters want to sting you.

Now you take a herd of cattle and stinger one on the opposite side of the herd => to cause the stampede to go THE OTHER WAY...the way they want you to run. So grasshoppers, they want you to run away from the Bible.

      WHY?!

Because the Bible shows them plainly. The Bible bares their butts for all to see and #2, to know that they too are human... humans who have ABSOLUTELY NO RIGHT TO TELL YOU WHAT TO DO. Even less so now that we see their tactic of handling you like a grazing herd of cattle just increased 200%.

They have no right to send your best healthy children to die in foreign deserts like JOINING THE FRENCH FOREIGN LEGION EITHER.

{SNAP} WAKE UP. SEE YOUR REAL ENEMY, INSIDE US BORDERS.
{SNAP} WAKE UP. SEE THEIR FEAR OF THE MILITARY COMING HOME.
{SNAP} WAKE UP. SEE THAT THEY HAVE ENERGY & WORKING UFO's.
{SNAP} WAKE UP. SMELL THE DAMN COFFEE ALREADY.

Unless hmm, maybe you really are cattle. In that case keep walking down the chute toward the sharpy-looking things, no doubt cursing God. God isn't your enemy. God isn't starving anybody there's PLENTY OF FOOD, THE AIR IS STUFFED WITH FLOATING MICROSCOPIC SUSHI.

    • Gravity_Man:

And while you have a microscope handy stop looking at what one candidate says & the other one says as being separate; instead see them as a total mosaic coming from one source handing each candidate a piece of the script they want ya to hear.

THEN MAYBE YOU STAND A SNOWBALL'S CHANCE.

Bachmann was handed a piece of truth when stating close down the EPA, apparently a Lead-In towards releasing non-polluting energy sources... ultimately holding your little childish hands taking you toward their candy store.

To understand fully you have to open your eyes FULLY. Take all the crazy comments from the various potential candidates and realize they come from one source, then you stand a chance. You are all being cattle-prodded, albeit very gently so you don't hear the {SNAP}, WAKE UP TIME.

    • It's absurd for Michelle Bachmann's supporters to claim that it is sexist to publish a magazine with a picture of her looking normal on the cover. That is her normal expression. It would be extremely difficult for anyone to find a picture of her looking any different.
For those people who say that a man would have been treated differently, I disagree, because Mitch McConnell has the same look in his eyes most of the time. That is that "i'm gonna get you sucker" look!

    • So, according to NOW as a woman I am supposed to give two shits how this woman is portrayed? Let me make it clear. No, I don't give two shits for how she is portrayed as she is being portrayed as exactly what she is....a braindead moron who spews venom and bile at anyone who is within earshot of her. If she looks crazy and deranged in a photo, well it is because she IS crazy and deranged and the eyes don't lie. Piss off NOW.

You make an interesting point that one person indeed has "the button". That isn't right at all. You ALL have the button. In fact you've already been using it by refusing to buy the Volt. You all refuse to purchase a half-finished car.

You have begun to recognize a carrot hung down in front of your faces... a money-draining carrot, a $45/hour fix-em-up straight off the assembly line. GOOD FOR YOU!!! My engine will run 100 years before beginning to show any wear.

And my last engine of May 2011 that ONLY HAS THREE (3) MOVING PARTS WILL GO FAR LONGER. Quit accepting tripe => wait for the trout fillets. Wait for it. Wait for the real engines to be placed on your plate. QUIT ACCEPTING TRASH.

Unless you want trash to last past Star Trek. Of course they'll have Star Trek. Just you won't. You'll have tripe transport. Slobmobiles. SUV's the size of a garbage can lid.

The bottom line is that she unqualified, crazy and possibly dumber than Palin. As a woman, I am disgusted that the Republicans can not find a woman that does not expose them for being the misogynists that they are by flinging any idiotic Stepford wife that comes along into the public eye.

    • The picture of Bachmann is definitely unflattering, but the idea that it's also sexist because we would never do something like that to a man is incredibly stupid. Gloria Steinem should go sit at the kiddy table because she is dumbing down the public debate.

      Like almost all evangelicals.

Religion doesn't make you a better person, in most cases it just makes you less tolerant, less intelligent (closed minded), and tends to make you a target for those who disagree with your brand of religion.

There was supposed to be a Federal Law in effect to stop all good-looking women from throwing their arms in the air and laughing => in all public places. But we men have gotten sloppy, so many good laws have fallen into dis-use of late.

Obviously Michelle Bachmann is a sleazy presidential wannabee what with the flagrant wearing of white necklaces combined with black dresses.

AND HEELS. AND PROBABLY DANG => PERFUME. Well, that hangs it then. Male presidential candidates will simply be forced to exercise their Rights also, to wear white necklaces, black dresses, heels and perfume, while throwing their hands and arms aloft LAUGHING.

Someone needs to contact Michelle ASAP and tell her about this new product I located called Bulasterone. It will grow more hair on her arms, legs & armpits; so then she can get out with a shovel on a job site and show off while wearing a black T-shirt and a NECKLACE and let the chips fall, with the rain. No one would dare run against her then [while carrying a SHOVEL].

Palin, however, lacks tomboy. You Fail. As for being insane, the world WANTS INSANE, or haven't you noticed that either? Muhammed Ali was insane, so insane they could barely find his chin. Insane has a lot going for it.

It has been the sane idiots that lacked vision. And usually, sooner or later, the safety of the sane has to bow to the superiority of the insane's choices. George Patton was insane. Japan's kamikaze pilots were insane.

But the Puppet Masters want you barefoot and ignorant, constantly running like a herd of chickens with its heads cut off for Sunday dinner running always running to the next election achieving NOTHING... by voting for those ones they have pre-approved to be their next choice.

And after each next election your position has not been advanced one inch. Now you take this taxpayer-funded military WHERE IS IT? overseas. Hmm. Your protection is always somewhere outside US borders.

Hmm. How convenient. Your real enemy is here. Your western border is under attack from radiation. Your southern border is under attack from Foreign Oil Companies. Your southern border also under attack by hot weather. The eastern border is under attack from ocean streams changing salinity inviting an Ice Age to hit the entire US.

So. Under attack. And where's the military? Actually they're under attack too by being led around by politician-following generals.

Right offhand you all are voting for nothing. Nothing is in the captain's chair today, and after the next election he'll be replaced by another nothing, or himself, with his assorted chocolate candies called czars, great for holiday gifts.

I fail to see any substance.

Fighting for crude oil we no longer need because my "living engine designs" negate the need for it. So the military boys and girls are dying to protect "our way of life" that doesn't need protecting IT NEEDS REPLACING.

Welp, that there's a bucket of horse shit.
