Dear Colbert Super PAC Members and Membrettes,
I hope you've counted your chickens, because they're about to hatch.
It feels like only yesterday Colbert Super PAC was launching our first in a then-one-part-series of commercials leading up to the Ames Iowa Straw Poll. But here we are, one tomorrow later, and Colbert Super PAC has just released its second in a thus-far-two-part series of commercials in support of Rick Parry.
As we speak, this ad will be running later tonight in Iowa. As a special prize, one random Super Pac Member will get the honor of viewing the commercial early. The lucky winner is: Terrence Chau! If you are Terrence, congratulations! Click here to view the ad before anyone else . If you are not Terrence, please, do not click on that link. We're on an honor system here.
You don't see this kind of advertising every day, although there may or may not be another one tomorrow. We need your continued support to purchase only the finest stock footage of corn and smiling Midwesterners. So please, won't you open your hearts to Colbert SuperPAC? And more importantly, won't you open your wallets, and if necessary, a new line of credit? With your help, we'll get one day closer to Making a Better Tomorrow, Tomorrow.
Polite Valediction,
Stephen Colbert
President and Last of the Barbary Pirates, Americans for a Better Tomorrow, Tomorrow

I think that in Iowa, it should be called a corn poll, not a straw poll.

It certainly looks like Stephen is picking up a lot of tips from other PAC's like Americans for Prosperity, since they a similar thing in the Wisconsin's Recall Election with a form that had Absentee Ballot Typos.
I'm sure it was just as unintentional as the Koch Bros. missing the date of the election and the address to mail it as Stephen did misspelling Perry. After all there are lots of other better things to spend the PAC money of than to waste it on paying for proof readers, right?

Colbert and his writers have got the magic working, imho. His show tonight (8-11) included another spot on his Super PAC, and it was killer! His is in a tussle with one of the three TV stations in Iowa. The TV station refused to air the Super PAC commercials. It is great!

I am not sure this is the best idea. I want to contribute to Colbert's Super PAC but not if it may have the unintended consequence of getting Rick Perry elected because the write in Parry votes will be counted for Perry.

Are you sure the votes for pArry would be counted for pErry? I remember the nice Republican lady recently running in Alaska with a write-in. I cannot remember her name, but the MSM made a deal of her fighting an uphill battle since the spelling of her last name (not the easiest to remember the spelling of) must be correct on each write-in, or they would not count as votes (for her, at least). Might be wrong about that, but it sure does seem that way.

I don't know if they could count them for Perry, because there is advertising out there for PARRY. The straw poll doesn't really count for anything anyway, just a money maker for IOWA, not that I blame the people for cashing in on the Republican Party party money, but seriously, it's just a preliminary preliminary, kind of like a Miss Repulican Pageant for candidates to judge their popularity with the Midwest Americans. The winner doesn't win anything but a bunch of free advertising in the media.

I know it doesn't really count but this silliness does influence elections. I am afraid it may artificially inflate this whack-a-loon's popularity.

I'm pretty sure all the typos for Senator Murkowski were thown out since it was official ballot, especially because there were several lawsuits about that particular election.
But since this is not an election only a straw poll, I doubt they'll be as strict with misspellings, especially being Iowa

Well, that may be good, he'll think he's got way more votes than he has. Anyone who votes for PARRY certainly won't be voting Perry come the 2012 election. I understand what you mean, though, these artificial votes may make him more popular to the Republicans, and we all know they follow the crowd. We don't really have votes in these preliminary things anyway. The only people who vote in the straw poll are the people the candidates invite to it.
