DISCLAIMER;Not a fan of organized sports due to always being the runt in gym class and unco-ordinated to boot and didn't watch the video because we can't stream on two devices at once with our bottom tier "broad band". That being said, I always equated the whole NFL thing to the Romans' version of poulation distraction of bread and circuses. It's the modern version of keeping the massses distracted so they don't see what's going on around them and start rioting in the streets. Too bad the Teapublicans are busy taking the "bread" portion out of the equation. Hungry people don't get distracted that easily by such entertainment and that can be dangerous to those who wish to remain in control. Now if Perry's rain prayer meeting had some lions to eat those in attendance, THAT would have been REAL Roman entertainment fit for television!

I can see where 75,000 people in a stadium are all the same (sarcasm). Football is a balance between artisanry and strength. You have the artfulness of the ball carrier dancing through a hole combined with the strength of the men who created the hole. But in its rawest form football is a gladiator sport in a packed coliseum.
Are there handful of people whos lives are affected by the outcome of a game? Sure. But there are people in all aspects of life who need mental health counseling.

I think this idiot has Current confused with the Huffington Post.
Here's a suggestion - your diatribe here is about as important as who's on Desperate Housewives or what vacuous pole dancer is about to win American Idol. GO away moron.

That is one pretty big stereotype box that Adam is trying to fit us into. I just love mass generalizations.

Why should anyone care what Adam Michael Luebke things about football?
Well, when a person accurately assesses a certain situation and its consequences, it is prudent upon the discerning to individual to pause, reflect, and then agree with that person.

"The 49ers and the Oakland Raiders. What a bunch of pussies. They have big muscles; some of them might have huge dicks, but they aren't real men, and their fans have bottom-of-the-barrel sperm counts which make them act like brutal ninny imbeciles fighting in delusional trenches to desperately defend their designated team. As if it's their actual win or loss. As if it actually means anything at all."
So deep. so introspective, so reflective. You changed my life, I'll never watch football again thanks to your craftily guided written prowess and prose. My feeble sausage brain has been lifted from the trenches of your stereotypical box and into the warm embrace of your esteemed enlightenment.
In short, LOL. Dont hate what you don't understand

You also have very nice prose cwebbt4! Though I don't fully understand why a person would be an NFL fan, I did play football back in my youth (and watched a few seasons avidly) and I must say I remember it lacking in art and benefit. Unlike something sweet and fluid like Tae Kwon Do. In Tae Kwon Do each movement has a secret and one becomes strong in mind and body and improved in character. In my experience, one's character degenerates in football. Especially the fans. Watch men smash each other, ogle the nearly non-dressed women, slosh a beer, watch men smash each other, eat something deep fried, discuss stats.

I tell you what, the Green Bay Packers are a model for how companies should be run. A company owned by the fans. Where is there another company that is owned by the customers? (cause I would like to know)

I agree with you. A company owned by the fans justifies a real cult following: it's good for the entire community. There is a tradition and a real sense of location to it.

The reason the Packers were set up as a NFP owned by the community was so the team could not be sold for a profit and relocated. Many years ago it was feared the team would be sold for profit and moved to a more potentially profitable metropolitan area. Theres no need for other franchises to operate in this manner.

I should think that there should be a need for companies that are owned by the customers. I ain't got time to see if products are going to give me cancer. I'm already stress the fuck out when I go to the grocery store. They're aren't many companies that care about us. They just want to sell us cheap stuff at an expected quality. Ain't no company that wants to out innovate, cause that costs money. It's a better business model to just be a little better than your competition and cost the same money.
