May I remind you that journalist have a responsibility to ensure the objectivity and accuracy of the news items they report. It's as if Jon Stewart is the real journalist and faux news and the GOP is the joke of the day. More and more people go to Jon Stewart for real news, then alleged real news. And it seems that the GOP is trying to bring back the 1900's, when the rich took what they wanted without any interference from anybody. Can we afford to keep these faux news operations alive, or will they rule this country by controlling all the low information voters. Is there any way to hold them accountable? Hell yeah!!!

Gone are the days of Walter Cronkite and Edward R. Murrow. Jon Stewart is real news these days. I would love to see FOX held accountable!

you know what i did connie? about a month ago i swore off all television and radio news, both lefty and righty. i now live with 50% less stress in my life. i highly recommend it.

I think it's a good idea, but I think it's a goal of some, to get people to turn off politics, left and right, leaving them to do waht they want, when they want, with no accountability.

The only way 'we the people' can try and hold them accountable is to pay attention. Facts matter, the truth matters more. We can't let the goal of truth disappear. If we don't hold politicians and media accountable, they are free to mislead at will and the will!

Good luck congoboy. Everyone should seek less stress. I am 56 and would much rather be able to ignore politics, because politicians are doing what they are elected to do -- serve the people. Unfortunately, they are serving corporations at our expense. We can't afford to ignore them, the end cost will be too high!

oh i havent given up paying attention. i still read a couple of newspapers daily. even though they can also be slanted left and right. people reading arent influenced by the sly nuances and biases of a tv or radio newscaster as easily. unfortunately it is becoming more apparent that politicians from both party's are mostly out to serve themselves first.

Alright, I was keeping out of this, but what about the people who work very hard for minimum wage? They must work very hard and achieve little because the game is rigged against them. Most of the very rich did not work hard to get what they have. Donald Trump took government bail outs because he is a shitty businessman. I don't think I need to reiterate what the banks and Wall Street did and got bailed out for.

With very few exceptions, the very rich did not work hard to get what they have and do not contribute fairly to the system that made it possible. In fact, most got rich on either borderline or over the line criminal activity.

Pointing this out does not make one lefty liberal. It merely illustrates an awareness of what is really going on in the world.

At least Kerry actually fought in a war next to all brothers of different backgrounds. He has experience and no shame. Rich, draft dodging politicians that endorse wars for frivolous reasons are the ones that I really loathe.

When you say "cable" are you referring to local cable companies, or do you mean any company like Direct & Dish? I ask because I noticed that my mother's local cable company has LOTS of religious programming and they seem to control the content pretty much on their basic lineup. They do offer the comedy channel though, so they have not censored Stewart/Colbert. Fox is available, I think, from Direct TV. I just never go there.

It's a lot of money in religious programming that's why you see so much of it. I am not saying all is about the money, but a lot of them are. Money, money, money!

Basically, any company that has packages of channels instead of getting channels "a la carte". There's legislation that addresses this. Cause the companies pay the channels and if there's a channel that's not offered by them, they don't pay them. I would rather pay for channels directly cause there are a lot of channels I don't watch and I don't care to have.

Specific to your mom, there's a lot of religious programming, even channels that you can get with digital antenna and not pay cable or satellite. I would definately experiment with that cause reception differs from area to area. Trees, electricial wires on those poles you see. Got MTV2 with an antenna in a high rise apartment.

fox is no worse than the news channels you choose to watch. all news is slanted, folks just watch the slant they prefer

nothing wrong with providing folks with some wholesome religious programming. those of us that have felt god know he exists and may not need televangelism but some folks do. its no conspiracy beautiful and we all have the choice to change the channel.

Let me say this, only Mr. Sheppard and Mr. Wallace have any (meaning maybe 5%) journalistic integrity. It is true, all news is slanted. I like to read the local paper, myself, but major news is slanted towards sensationalism. Daily show, comedy. MSNBC, fact driven democratic. Fox News, republican story telling.

again you give fox too little credit and your television news choices too much. it just shows how slanted you are as an individual. we are all slanted and hypocritical to some degree but you not only hold those qualities but are also dishonest, not only with me but yourself.

Oh, Fox News can gather info but when it doesn't fit the story, they'll manufacture stuff. I'm saying it's well tuned machine. That's the credit I will give cause really it takes a lot of effort to lie and continue to do so. It's all about the story with cable news.

MSNBC's fault is that they pick and choose based on things that they can say are factual, something that sturs up conflict, and ultimately something that lots of people can watch, much like CNN.

They are all conflictinators which is why I like Daily Show so I can laugh, and read a local news paper to find out what is really going on.

NPR is a bit better. They're only fault is that they pick news items that seem a bit democratic at times.

I'm not really sure why people think Cspan is slanted. I suppose you could fault camera time between parties but they have a good handle on that unless you just like repubs on the cam 24/7. But I don't like reality shows.
