Near some town called Breckenridge, if I recall. I was pregnant and had to pee. My husband and I were on our way to Mobile, Alabama, where he would begin teaching at the Univ of South Alabama. The road was two-lanes, deserted (we thought) and so we did what we had to do. A state trooper came up behind us with lights flashing . . . this was in early 1984. My husband was in the trooper's car for the longest time. I didn't know what the heck was going on. Finally he came back and said that he almost had to go to jail for peeing by the side of the road. Luckily, he talked his way out of it. So when did bodily functions become felonious deeds?

2. An armed, officer of the state should not be accepting consensual sex (which should certainly be considered bribery of a police officer).
3. If cops are allowed to have sex on duty, then we very quickly will see spikes in vulnerable women being victimized by bad cops taking advantage. The good cops will wonder why it is getting even more difficult to get witnesses and victims to trust police.
4. Cops don't get to use their badge to get sex. Save it for after work.
5. Those who said that anyone else would get arrested and be a sex offender registered for life, were absolutely correct... and maybe they'd even get raped in jail too.

So you think that he is a cop who is 100% on the level, except that he just happens to screw women while on duty and in public. I am sure that he draws the line at dereliction of duty, getting paid good money to not work. Do you get it that a cop who would do this is in all likelihood out of control in many other ways? 2. I do not know the entire story. I can only speculate that he knew the woman. If he didn't and he took advantage of his authority, then it is wrong as well. I am under the assumption that he knows the woman because I have no other information.
3. Cops are human like everyone else. No, they should not be allowed to have sex while on duty and i will bet this particular police officer never will again. Again, assumption that he knew the woman. If he did not, then that is another story.

For context's sake, I just want to mention that I am a woman in NYC. We just watched a police officer beat a rape charge that was almost without question the rape of an intoxicated woman. I am still very pissed off about that. But I am also a hopeless romantic that hopes that this was just exuberant young love instead of a scum bag cop taking advantage of a speeder. With the facts that have been presented, I do not know what the real story is.
