Nothing less than genocide Progresshiv. The treatment of the first Americans is a trail of tears, blood and poisoning that continues to this day. The treatment of indigenous people on a global scale is nothing short of inhumane and barbaric. This is why when people spew about the "benefits" of nuclear energy it shows how ignorant they are. But you know this government will never make amends for what they did and what they took and still take. So it will be up to us to never let them forget.

In my opinion, the most telling sentence in your article is this one:
"In the traditional Navajo home where Begay once lived with two of her sons, the radiation levels were up to 100 times the acceptable level. The two sons have died — one of lung cancer and the other from a tumor. The EPA tore down the home in 2001."
What more needs to be said?
Thank you for sharing this.

Amen !!! I love this because it gives me an opportunity to say that my 5 greats grand uncle was and is in the spirit, Daniel Boone. Now Daniel Boone has many direct descendants who may disagree with me, but every time I meet a Native American I make sure I tell them that what the Europeans did to the Native Americans was nothing short of a human genocide. I consider what happened in this NEW WORLD to be the absolute worst of all the crimes against humanity. That this is not named and treated as such in American history books only adds to this on-going human desecration. Until we admit to this human atrocity, we can never cleanse ourselves of this blood and can never create a better world for ourslves. The first step in recovery is to admit the truth to yourself. Until you do that, the dark cloud of enmity will permeate your soul.

It's very popular in America to commemorate the Holocaust (and rightly so), but the genocide against Native Americans is not a polite conversational topic. We need an American Holocaust Museum to acknowledge what happened. We need a Native American Homeland, free from interference of the United States Government, which will provide arable land, access to all necessary natural resources (WATER), and safe housing for all Native Americans. The reservation system is a system of concentration camps, and it is a national disgrace. The Indian School system is a national disgrace. The forced marginalization of Native Americans is a national disgrace. Strip mining and oil drilling on reservation lands is a national disgrace.

I would love to see the American gov't. honor at one of the thousands of treaties they have signed with Native Americans of this land. They have broken every single treaty they have signed with every nation, it is beyond disgraceful. Is this what it means to be an American? To be the most dishonorable killers know to man?

Well I never said it would not make one rich but do you really want to become rich at the cost of the lives of others? I know I don't I like to look at the world and see where I have done good in the grand scheme of things not torn down what some one else built or taken the life of someone
