I had not yet seen the Elizabeth Warren rant I keep hearing about. She's awesome. Pardon me, if I keep repeating myself, but I know no one who has ever gotten rich because they moved to an uninhabited island and then worked very hard or came into a brilliant idea. As Hillary so eloquently points out "it takes a village".

With Hillary? Of course it would have been better. Much better. The Tea Partys took hold because of Obama's incompetence an inability to lead. He's a horrible President, one of the worst ever, that's why the 2010 elections turned out the way they did. And unless the Democrats get a primary challenger going and quick, you may see it again in 2012 because we certainly can't go on like this, and he obviously has no clue what to do.

Phil, let's not do that "day" again, plz! What I don't get is the repugs don't vote for the jobs bill even though they claim to be in favor of "jobs" and the OWS people won't back the jobs bill because dems sponsored it even though it is ideas both parties have supported, so at this point in time, who besides the Prez and some dems are pushing for jobs? What's wrong with making #1 demand passage of the jobs bill, not for dems or repugs, but for America? Why not a stay at home one day strike, if the jobs bill isn't passed asap, so we can all participate?

Because the voters were told it would "send a message" to the Dems in Washington. Over on one of the queer sites I haunt, there were quite a few sock puppets shilling for the R/TP's for gays to sit out the election because the President hadn't done enough for them. They too claimed it would "send a message". I and a few others tried to explain that the only thing that would happen was things would become much worse for them. They're still at it over there, but maybe this time the ones that did follow that advise will see that the only message sent was sit out the election or vote for the "enemy" and you'll be screwed over and not in a "good" way.

Bored with it, the whole system is flawed... It won't be fixed, the best one can do is boycott all of it all together...
Rely on your local economy, don't participate in banking, don't buy the newest trendiest dehumanizing gadget, and let them run a market that's not participated in....
Gandhi had it figured... And at this point I'm convinced the movement will just shift power a little at most. People need to wake up, you're not going to fix politics, you're not going to fix Wall-Street or the banking system, you'll be lucky to fix yourselves.....
They still control you, they will continue to control you, seems like people just want to give the controls over to someone else... Can't fix a broke system, and the system you're trying to effect is all about power and money anyway... I hope which ever of you guys (or your ideas) is supposed to win does or whatever, but I'm now convinced your going about it wrong...
Power trippers on either side, and although I support the certain rights and freedoms being expressed, I can no longer support believing that even modifying the existing system will get you anywhere.... What's going on will probably actually be more detrimental....

I agree with minimizing what you buy I still have an old business cell phone with no bell and whistles a collapsable antenna and a monochrome screen. No car the subway works just fine for me.
I'm looking for a small bank that is not tied to wall st----very hard to find if not impossible. This movement whatever it accomplishes it's a success in one single aspect. It gets people involved, far too long people have been regurgitating on line one view or another but few get their hands dirty, protesting is no longer something hate filled tea party members do, it's being brought back to what it's supposed to be a tool for people to express their views and be heard.

To Obama? Almost anyone, are you kidding me? Nothing is going to change with him in office, nothing, nothing has changed and nothing will change. We need solutions, we need leaders, someone is going to have to step up and be that leader. And neither party seems to be willing to do that. How about we start a third party with all this enthusiam and energy, I'd be for that. You can protest all you want but nothing is going to change unless we get a real leader in the White House one way or another, and I don't really care how it's done. For this movement to become meaningful it has to produce an alternative to what we have now. Just saying things are shitty now is great, but we all know that and we are all pissed about it. So what are you really going to do about it? Re-electing Obama is not the solution to anything, and we know that, we've seen him in action for close to three years, it is painfully obvious to everyone. So who is it going to be, what are we going to do with all this enthusiam and energy?

JohnA:
I did say, real world solution.
It's too late in the game to start a third party movement that would work in 2012. All it would accomplish is to split the progressive vote and put one of those Republican clowns in office.( but I think you already know that.:)
We have to make the whole of capitol hill more progressive from Obama on down, then hold their feet to the fire, and if any of them want to do business as usual, we the people impeach them out of office. A third party at this time will only muddy the water. 2017, maybe. I've been hearing this meme a lot from conservative operatives here in the community.
Don't bother voting cause it won't do any good. Don't vote for either side. We need a third party.
These are all just the same old divide and conquer dirty tricks that have served the Republicans so well in the past. Well John, whether you like it or not, things have changed. Progressives are on to your game. - 7 months ago

Nothing has changed, not for the better. Well how about getting someone to run as a primary challenger to Obama? There has to be something that can be done, I hate to see all this energy go to waste. And I am not some right wing operative, I voted for Hillary.

JohnA:
A primary challange is an attractive idea, but I personally, think it might work in the Reps' favor, and I don't want to give them one inch of traction.
For what it's worth, I agree with you that Obama screwed his base, and if this was a perfect world, I would reach down and snatch his compromising ass right out of the White House and drop Bernie Sanders in his big leather chair in the oval office, but we have to play the best cards that we are dealt, and right now, like it or not, I think Obama is the only one who can hold the spot for Progressives. Having said that I know the base and the 99ers will have to keep the pressure on him for the next three years to do the job we sent him there to do!
During that time, we build a 3rd party so the congressional Democrats know that we're sick of their Wall street games too.
If they don't dance with ones who brought them to the party, we can always go home with someone else. - 7 months ago

Obama is not a progressive, he only cares about himself, he is a narcicist. He wants you to vote for him, that's it. He is the Panderer in Chief. Whoever he is talking to at the moment is who he agrees with. You have all these people protesting, all this energy and enthusiasm, put it to good use. The Tea Partiers leveredged their power to get what they wanted, these protestors can too.

Because Obama has to, at least, pretend to be on the side of the 99%.
Republicans don't even bother with the pretense anymore.
Also, the Republicans had their chance...again...for the umteenth time, to make their 100+ year old, abysmally FAILED economic theories work, and no surprise, THEY FAILED AGAIN!
But, if you wait around for another generation to pass, you'll see the Republicans trot them back out, dust them off, give them a new coat of paint and sell them to a new generation of historically challanged Americans, who will have to suffer through a third Great Depression before they learn what we should know today. Call it Free Market or Laissez Faire or whatever new tag they put on it, it's still the same steaming pile of Crap.

That is so sad. All the occupying all over the globe, and Obama is the best choice they have. We may as well fold up the country right now if that's the case, because we know for a fact he is a failure. A pretender who will not change a damn thing about the economic system they are protesting is the best choice they have for me. That's the weakest fucking protest I've ever heard of.
