Pro Tip of The Day: Police Brutality - Handled the Way It Should Be

Anonmaly
This is a fine demonstration of what happens to police for breaking their own laws although I do not condone violence. But... The line must never be crossed...!

NOTICE DISCLAIMER; Anonmaly does not actually support violence in any way, shape, or form..... However he/she (sorry transgendered lmao) does condone self defense, equal or slightly more powerful force to defend ones self, in circumstances where your life or personal safety is actually threatened.... Not like our government sees defense, where we blow dope growing goat herders to kingdom come....

I just felt this video fit the sentiment of many people......

    • This video just reiterates the point that in other democracies the government fears the people, because the people stand up for what they believe in all the time. In this country the people fear the government. Hopefully we're starting to change that mentality.

    • "I just felt this video fit the sentiment of many people..."

And you were right to feel that way! The 'people' have simply had enough of this goose stepping brutality. These assholes got exactly what they deserved from the crowd.

The planet has awoken. It's time to stand up to thugs everywhere.

    • Unfortunately, all to often keepers of the peace do not "de-escalate" a given situation, they escalate it. This is completely wrong and unethical, immoral and symptomatic of a very dysfunctional individual and methodology.

In such situations, terrible things can and sometimes do occur and when it does, those contributing to it under the disguise of being there for public safety should be held accountable in a manner that effectively changes the behavior for the better.

Police often see people as adversaries rather than fellow citizens they are there to protect and serve. Police must remember, they are servants of "the people" - not of those corrupt politicians and not of corrupt power hungry manipulators in corporations.

All good points....that is, in an IDEAL world. But we don't live in that magical place my friend.

But when they don't...(serve and protect) this response is not only appropriate, but necessary. Everyone knows, bullies understand nothing else.

    • The protestors need to be more organized and concentrated. If one cop steps forward, bum rush him and take him to the ground.

Also go for the flanks and get behind their line. They'll break. Usually protestors vastly outnumber the cops but a little strategy in defeating them goes a long way.

    • Violence of this nature cannot be controlled by discussion. Like it or not, this was a natural human reaction and you can bet Occupy is one bad incident away from this happening to some bully policeman. It is going to happen.

    • I do think that violence by the protesters will be a bad thing and will damage the protest, but I do also think that the protesters should have the right to protect themselves from people like that Officer that pepper sprayed the four women, 20 protesters should have beat the shit out of him.

    • This is all only my perspective. I do not speak for anyone but me.

Without telling anyone else what they should, or should not do, I cannot condone violence. I do not condone Security Guard violence or soccer fan violence (as shown in the video, and which is a frequently occurring phenomenon), American Police force violence, and certainly not violence on behalf of Occupy.

Violence is not a tool of Occupy. Violence is a tool of those Occupy protests against. If Occupy retaliates with violence, we are no better than those we protest against. Further, we would be playing "their" game, on their field, which would not be prudent, as it defeats the purpose of the protests altogether.

If we sincerely wish to make a better world, we can no longer use the tactics and strategies which brought us to this point. Hatred and violence, therefore, have no place in Occupy.

Just my opinion, and speaking only for myself.

    • chew_chew:

You are correct. Violence would only undermine and become a distraction from why people are protesting in the first place. Violence would be destructive to Occupy.

That being said, you can be sure there are those who would attempt to infiltrate the protesters to stir up violence or some other means of breaking up the protest. Something to be on the guard for.

    • Violence with violence only means more useless violence. The last thing we should be doing is resorting to something like throwing petrol bombs or molotov cocktails. What was shown in the video really doesn't mean much since the police in this video look to be more like private security guards. Also, the police are armed with riot gear and that would make any attempt to overpower them next to impossible. Only when live ammunition is actually used (which will probably never happen) would I then be more willing to see violence as an answer.

    • I could watch this video on a loop all day.

Some have and will rightfully point out that standing up for ourselves violently could be bad for our cause, but this is true for wholly superficial reasons. In our culture superficiality and propaganda always trump true justice. We do have to try to stay peaceful.

My father was beaten near death by the NYPD when I was a baby. They kicked me out of my carriage and knocked by then 2-year-old sister to the ground and stepped on her head. My dad had to have his spleen removed. He had a 10% chance of living, but he pulled through. In cases like that, the public actually has an obligation to fight back against the police, but nobody did, except the ambulance crew who fought with the cops just to get my dad into the ambulance.

What provoked it? It was a very hot Easter Sunday. People at the park we were in were getting rowdy. The cops were evacuating it. My dad was a ways away talking to a friend and when he saw the park getting evacuated he just wanted to reunite with us to make sure we were safe. So he was walking the wrong way and that tripped the violent gorilla-alpha-male egos of the cops who decided he deserved to be beaten to death for walking the wrong way. Most people did nothing to stop it and I think that's wrong. People need to stand up for themselves and for each other.

    • While this may not be the best way to react to police brutality, I'd wager there are a few protesters down in Oakland right now who would love a crack at the thugs in uniform who injured Scott Olsen. Police brutality should not be tolerated by the very citizens who pay their salaries.

    • This is not a good way to handle police brutality -- it makes it possible for police departments to rationalize bad actors in their midst.

    • wynnmeg61:

The key is to ALWAYS outnumber the police by more than 100 to one,.....then the public can afford to have a few "bad actors" in uniform.

p.s. the public should always be armed .
