Yours is a tired argument in support of cruelty. Plants, unlike animals, have no central nervous system therefore cannot feel pain. I don't know about soul, but I suspect plants have more soul than people who support wearing fur.

Pain === Central nervous system. Bull crap. stress is stress, nurture is nurture.

People who support wearing fur have less soul than plants? That means YOU have a mega soul. Maybe even a megalomaniac soul.

The central nervous system, consisting of the brain, spinal cord and nerves is the system through which pain is experienced. Animals have this, plants do not. I'm not sure what is so hard to understand about that.

Make no mistake -- Let me be clear: Yes, animals do suffer, and terribly. They do need continual advocates to find and REMEDIATE the situations. Watching a vivisection is an awesome experience. Nothing I wish to encourage.

Cruelty: attempts to inflict physical or emotional abuse. With the proper sadistic attitude a person could be cruel to a starfish. No Central Nervous system needed.

Let me be clear: Yes, animals do suffer, and terribly. They do need continual advocates to find and REMEDIATE the situations. The path that PETA people take, as with this example, include some of the lowest ethical behavior, but directed toward humans. Remediation is generally recognized as a higher ethical path.

Nearly all of this and related postings and comments contain such crap. However, since low ethics are far more visible than the hard work of remediation, Mr. PETA, I suggest that a better acronym might be People for Unethical Treatment of Humans — P.U.T.H
