Bachmann: I'm winning, not quitting

Michele Bachmann said Wednesday that it made no sense to heed influential Iowa conservative Bob Vander Plaats’ call to drop out of the race in Iowa, and added that she was the one with the momentum in the first caucus state.

POLITICO earlier reported that Vander Plaats had called Bachmann, asking her to drop out and endorse former Pennsylvania senator Rick Santorum.

“Yes, there was a call that was made,” said Bachmann on CBS’ “The Early Show.” “But it didn’t make sense, because my numbers have always been above those of Senator Santorum’s - it makes no sense for me to drop out.”

Bachmann insisted that she had the most support in Iowa among the religious voters that make up a crucial part of the state’s caucus-goers.
