    • so why is this such a big surprise? he has a very large liberal following (this is no secret) .... the real news would be to truly know the amount of conservatives that watch the show and like it and in their way agree with it

Faith, Certainty and the Presidency of George Bush
page 10 (out of a 15 page article)
      N.Y. Times Oct 17, 2004

      Russ Susskind interviews Carl Rove

(According to Carl Rove), guys like me were “in what we call the reality-based community “ which he (Carl Rove) defined as people who “believed that solutions emerged from your judicious study of discernable reality. That's not the way the world really works anymore (said Carl Rove). We are an empire now and when we act, we create our own reality. And while you are studying that reality judiciously , and you will, we'll act again, creating our own, other new realities which you can study too. And that's how things will sort out. We are history's actors and you, all of you, will be left to just study what we do.”

    • Bill is right. We are all being 'brainwashed'. Mind control frequencies are being transmitted into our immediate surroundings. This is happening in our cars, our homes, at grocery stores, in our parks, and even in very remote terrain. Brain waves pick up frequencies at 0.1 to 10 cycles/second (Hertz) on the electromagnetic spectrum. Power lines transmit at 10 to 10000 cycles/second (Extra-low frequency, ELF band) and then radiowaves and microwaves are in the RF Band of 10000 t 1,000,000,000,000 cycles/second. This includes AM/FM radio, TV' broadcast transmitters, CB radios, microwaves, satellite dishes and radar. The frequencies are either directly picked up by the mind or are filtered through the inner ear. You can hear the frequency and this communication is associated with a lateral nystagmus (horizontal movement of the eyes from side to side). This may be tied in with the tinnitus some are experiencing. There is no accompanying inflammation of the labyrinth (inner ear) but people may experience a vertigo that is caused by the energy field in the environment, creating magnets out of the metal in your surroundings (pipes, lead window balances in old home, etc.). Your home in not haunted, though some want you to think that. You do not need an exorcism, though some may want you to believe that. Many think they are psychic when they are just picking up on these projected communications and dreams. You can see the nystagmus on some of the David Icke videos of Bush and others giving speeches. They are being told what to say through this communication. This may be what is referred to as the MK Ultra mind control program. The sources of these projected communications need to be identified and destroyed. The AC grid needs to be re-vamped. The ground wire seems to be instrumental in carrying projected information. The problem is, who can we trust anymore? Everything is tied in together. What is not going out into the airwaves is coming in to us through the pipes and grid. I think those tin foil hats may make things worse, not better. This is not the future I wanted for my children.

Prediction: 2012 will be the year Bill Maher wins an award.

After the anti-capitalist, vindicative hatemonger Maher said "they're brainwashed liberals," referring to the audience, the other Lefty said,

      "THAT'S WHO YOU ATTRACT."

      EX-ACTLY!

    • Big vote down. Pure sophistry, but didn't expect much else from Newsbusters, a tacky name for a tacky right wing website.
As for Maher, this is not the first time ,or the last ,that he has been deliberately provocative . It's his job to be provocative...he is a comedian, without it he's not funny and worse, just boring. Maher may not always be on target , but I have never found him boring. See Bruce, Carlin etc. They were never boring, self indulgent occassionally, but not boring.

But do you know what is boring? Right wing contributors who post threads, not because they are interesting, or valuable additions to the discourse, or about issues which are of concern to the community, but because their sole reason for being is to bait liberals. It doesn't take much to spot them, all you need do is look at the byline and you can start checking your mental list--avoid this, avoid that, don't go there. It's almost second nature by now. In their twisted , empty little heads you can almost hear them saying, " Oh, that's a good one, that'll piss 'em off. I'll post that. Scream like little piggies, liberals, take that."

It's not even annoying anymore, it's not provocative, it's not even isulting. It's just plain
      BORING.

    • Leave it up to a republican tabloid spin machine to not get the fact Bill was being sarcastic. Or maybe they did get it and just figured their readers are stupid enough to think he was actually calling his viewers brainwashed liberals. It was tongue-in-cheek people! Just like we can call Faux Fans a bunch of brainwashed right wing bible-thumpers.

Just look at the sources "mission statement": Exposing and Combating Liberal Media Bias. Really?

Dumb asses probably thought they really scored with Bill's sound byte without realizing it was almost more of a spoof on what he really thinks about conservatives and the religious right. Burn on them for being so ignorant...

No , one must explain WHY , first , them give time for consideration .... The only people who would give this comment a second thought really DO need to be told what to think and HOW . Even Plato recognized that there are at LEAST two different kinds of people in this regard . My Opinion , ? Some people take everything far to seriously . If it made you think , good .

They're only "liberal" when the guy they're trying to get or keep in is a "liberal", never mind the fact the guy can immediately turn fascist....

Most of them don't care that Obama no longer even fits the definition of liberal, "he's our only option"....

The Libertarian (Paul) is more Liberal than they are, that Libertarian wants to abolish the death penalty, and holds all kinds Liberal views....

Nope fake ass liberal Obama is all they see....

No, the interesting part was not what Mahler said, but what the other guest - an extreme Leftist - said about the audience. Listen again to the spontaneous remark by Comrade Reiner right after Maher made that statement. The very next statement by the other Left-winger.

I have eyes and ears and an understanding of how comedy works and is written. You think there is no production staff or writing staff on that show? Do you realize that 80% of what guests say on that show is discussed beforehand and prescripted? Not in the way a situation comedy is scripted word for word, but in guideline and in pre-production meetings. Very little happens on that show, or others like it, without the host knowing it's going to happen. Those out of the industry are so naive. I suppose you think that the straight news shows like Hardball and the O'Reily Factor
are not preplanned either. You actually believe those film cues come up by themselves and the hosts are unaware of what is about to happen? Get real.

Hey there buddy boy, most of the time I find the "people" that follow me around to engage me, give my name that much more contrast. Anyone with half a brain (yes even you) should have BEEN seen through Maher, and this story is as relevant as me saying that I am not a troll. BTW iraqi, if it was air travel, the trails would dissipate within a minute, and you wouldn't hear about people coast to coast talking of the massive uptick in spraying, and aluminum and barium in the soil skyrocketing. You wouldn't wonder why we haven't got any rain this entire winter on the West Coast. It wouldn't be the topic of online and offline conversation, but alas it is. You would rather say "HEY LOOK AT THIS GUY, WE THOUGHT HE WAS GOOD< BUT HE'S NOT". Psssht, whatever. But then again, my money is on you being a paid soulless stooge, so I expect you to respond in an idiotic derogatory fashion, then to actually address anything important. Do you think this 5#!T is healthy, meatbag? NOT ONLY ARE PEOPLE WONDERING ABOUT THE CHEMTRAILS, THEY ARE ALL SAYING THAT THIS IS AN UNPRECEDENTED LEVEL OF SPRAYING CURRENTLY. Believe what you want, but look up for yourself, watch the cloudless blue skies streak up, then turn to grey.

At best you could say he was a hypocrite (from a pundit? how unexpected), the rest I kind of have to roll my eyes at.

He's a person, people are inconsistent. They change their mind and act like jerks all the time. You could write a similar character assassination of just about anyone.

The only thing I agree with is that it's shitty that he was anti-union, everything else is hardly worth mentioning or just so much slander. Some of it's insidious too. It has that faux-Progressive, support-Obama-or-die vibe that many mercenary political analysts go for.

For example, when you called Obama apologetics "astute" and then referring to "integrity" when he was critical of him before the 2010 elections. What the fuck? You don't see how creepy that sounds? Being Progressive does not mandate you to curtail your opinions to save Democrats some theoretical face.

Being Progressive is, at best, a set of rational goals, not a list of requirements for political belief. The death penalty nonsense you kept bringing up is a good example. Are you gonna say that all Progressives want to ban guns too? Neither are Progressive opinions. Even if they were, they certainly aren't shared probably by even a majority of people who would call themselves that.

He says intelligent things and is occasionally funny, that's all that matters.

Moreover, even if it were true, none of it actually discredits what he has to say. Which, most of the time, is pretty reasonable.

im not saying they dont have the right. what im saying is too many people give too much validity to their view points. just because someone is a celebrity doesnt make them smarter or more savvy on politics. many of them are only as good as their last film or project and hold no real intelligence over the average american. they live in a bubble and cannot relate to the rest of us any more than the average politician. there are several really good actors who espouse politcal beliefs opposite of my own and i can appreciate their art. but many times it is difficult for me to seperate the actors politics from his or her acting role when they make what i consider irrational political comments publically.

I hate to engage in the exact same generalizing behavior I claim to loathe, but this happens so often it just has to be fucking true.

I believe that a significant portion of Conservatives, maybe even a majority, don't even care about politics. They just hate "Liberals." The "Liberals" they hate don't even actually have to be liberals, they just have to seem like it so they can hate them. As a result, they'll side with anyone who hates liberals, no matter how god damn stupid they are. As long as they hate liberals, it doesn't even matter what they believe.

I know it's anecdotal, but ex-Conservatives even admit this.

      http://the1585.com/usedtobe.htm

In addition, I've had other people tell me this too.

Tan and Carlos, I think you've both rotted your brains because you hate people that don't even really exist. As a result, you've sided with people who are so much worse than liberals that it is literally insane that you follow them. Get a grip.
