Isn't satire usually based in part on truth? A cure for awakeness? Canadian politics.

It is from the Onion. It is satire. But I would be amused by people that watched it and believed it was actually reported. The shadowy overlords would never let this out to the mainstream media. :)

I believe it was church hill who said it,s not the vote that counts but who,s counting the votes. And like the new hampshire primary the polls open and at the end of the day the polls closed and we immediately had a projected winner. Are those machines all hooked to a central computer so when the clock strikes 7:00 they push a button and presto we have a winner and if so who is watching the person who is in charge of that computer.

That's great satire. Mostly because it's completely plausible.

It is brilliant satire, but it is still scary given the kind of shit Diebold has pulled in past elections.

I love the Onion as well, but we do have a real problem with voting machines and every citizen should demand paper ballots and hand counts! It's done in many country's because I guess those citizens have figured it out, before the election people should destroy these machines!

I agree, it's insane to put any trust in these machines, they've been proven to be far from reliable or safe against tampering.

I'm with you Kenny. I wouldn't trust the US election system either. Especially in the states controlled by the GOP. They are always looking at ways to suppress voters. I've heard too many horror stories where people claimed they voted one way and the voting machine changed their vote. The worst part is that most of these machines do not provide paper confirmation so you can't prove your vote was changed.
The US should have one law that regulates all federal elections. The States should only have control over their State Elections. Also, the President should be elected by popular vote not the Electoral College so that the President is elected by the majority, not by how States rig their elections.
In Canada you can register for the federal election when you file your taxes, then the federal government mails you your voter registration card to take to the polls and all ballots are paper. The only problem with Canada's election system is that the Prime Minister is elected by having the most Members of Parliament, so you can't vote for someone you may want to represent you if they aren't in the Party you support. But it is still a far superior system.

How disgustingly true...
They're setting it up to be a Romney v. Obama scenario as is, and Romney is going to loose by not the most slim margin which is actually what would happen under the circumstances...
One of the reasons Romney is being pushed so hard, they know he would actually lose and given other options that's what both the right and left want...
They seem to want us to forget that it wasn't 6 months ago, and on national polls, Ron Paul has been shown to be at the top of a few polls, with enough support to take Obama... Especially when you factor in the far-left people that are ready to throw that republican out the window...
Paul hasn't lost the first supporter to Romney, and when you factor in things like anti-piracy bill from October, the signing of the NDAA, calling a question on cannabis "inappropriate" and removing videos directed to the president on that subject off the question list, I'd wager in all actually Ron Paul has a decisive lead on Obama, voters that would never back Romney in Paul's stead...

Ron Paul has NO chance of winning, none! No union voters will have him. Teachers would picket every city in the country if he won the nomination. The military and thier families baulk at his notions on defense (as do I). Every small mom and pop business owner in the country who have had to fight to survive against the coorporate conglomerates see the real effects that his ideas on a "free-market" would have. Ron Paul has ZERO chance of a win....get over it and keep moving.

It is quite sad, and the negabots all have thier prefered targets as well. This was meant to be funny, and for those of us with equally morbid senses of humor and reality found it quite funny, but yes the premise behind the humor is a marrow chilling plausibility.

Sadly, unless people march hand in hand to the voting booths, there's a good chance their votes won't get counted. If it's not a landslide, they can tilt the vote to Romney and no one will be the wiser.
I'm hoping people are upset about the shenanigans of the right, that they show up in numbers and loud. Our elections are too important to ignore.
Obama with a margin too big to steal, is my hope.
