Just received an e-mail that Media Matters is releasing a new book called "The Fox Effect: How Roger Ailes Turned a Network into a Propaganda Machine " on Feb. 21st. They say that they have new e-mails, letters, and inside info on some of the shenanigans behind the scenes of FOX.
Re-instate the Fairness Doctrine Now!!!

That would have required eliminating the Fairness Doctrine far earlier. Then again maybe we would have become so disgusted with their news LIES by now that it would be re-instated by now.

If the queen had them then she would be the king. There are a lot of things different now than in the 60s. Who k nows, perhaps Cronkite would not have gotten away with his lie about Tet in 68.

Walter Cronkite was an American hero for standing up and telling America what was going on. His coverage wasn't "lies", his coverage told the truth. And Nixon -- like many rightwingnuts -- couldn't as easily manipulate Americans who knew the truth.

Hypothetical situations are great ways to entertain our minds. They are also a creative way to expose our hilarious insanity. What if....... What if...... What if your mother had practiced birth control?

Since we were already being taught in school that it was "Better to be Dead than Red" I can imagine Fox promoting mass suicides because "THE RUSSIANS ARE COMING! THE RUSSIANS ARE COMING!"

On Youtube there is an interview made by Mike Wallace with Salvador Dali that was made in 1958. At the beginning of the interview Mike Wallace takes 2 minutes to promote Paliament Cigarettes and continue smoking the cigarette the whole interview. Check it out you will enjoy it is very funny.

That was before the nanny state interfered in the advertising of cigarettes and added more censorship onto already stringent regulations.
For most of the history of television, you've had the option of either changing the channel or turning the damned thing off if you see something of which you disapprove. With a draconian government working for you, cry-babies are saved the trouble of choosing for themselves what they will and will not watch.

Young Negro commits suicide by beating himself nearly to death and gouging out one of his eyes, before shooting himself through the head and tying a 70lbs. cotton gin fan around his neck with barb wire and then jumping in the Tallahatchie River. It's believed he was wrought with guilt for not actually having made a sexually suggestive statement to a white woman.

"If Fox News Was Around in the 60s" ..... From what I see on here that's a very scary thought. Great post and none of it is far fetched had they been around then.

If Fox "News" had been around in the 60s, maybe most people would have had enough time to finally realize what a threat to global civilization they really are/were, and they would be out of business by now.

A Likely Nuclear World War was avoided because the President took time to negotiate instead of taking the advice of generals and invading Cuba. Kennedy was banking that Khrushchev (Who was also under pressure to attack) didn't have the stomach for war.
How Fox News might have reported it.....

Let's go back further still:
Faux covers the Boston Tea Party
A mob, dressed as shrieking red savages, stormed and occupied the newly arrived trade ships, throwing crates of tea, the property of the East India Trading Company, into the harbour. It's a sad day when the rights and property of corporations are treated with such callousness. Hanging's too good for these brigands.
On the bright side we might still be part of the UK and have real healthcare. Fancy that.
