The magazine said it considered factors including violent crime, unemployment rates, foreclosures, taxes, home prices, political corruption, commute times, weather and performance of local sports teams to determine Miami is the most miserable city in the United States.
“While sports, commuting and weather can be considered trivial by many, they can be the determining factor in the level of misery for a significant number of people,” the magazine said.
Miami was followed on the list by Detroit; Flint, Mich.; West Palm Beach, Fla.; Sacramento; Chicago; Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; Toledo, Ohio; Rockford, Ill., and Warren, Mich.

Welcome to future , all of you are going to be living in gated communities (reservations). That's a fact.

I once attended the theater in downtown Miami. After the show was over, around 9pm and the theater let out it wasn't minutes until the streets were again deserted. I am from the north so I was expecting some (quite a lot really) of night life. New York and Boston never sleep but in Miami you would not find a dog on the streets after 9pm. Very scary place on the sidewalks once you leave the confines of the clubs, theme parks and gated communities.

guess our overwhelming government corruption here has put three cities near the top of that list...should add the names of all the rest as well. Florida is going under fast.

The income disparity in Miami is incredible and much of the city is ideed a disgusting hellhole. Personally I saw much of Florida to be this way.
