Ron Paul’s Delegate Strategy May be Working

Image

There is an interesting analysis article over at Real Clear Politics that lays out a scenario whereby the August Republican National Convention evolves into the worst nightmare imaginable for party officials – a brokered convention. Based on how Republican candidates for president have done so far with different demographics and regions of the country, Sean Trende predicts how the race for the Republican nomination may play out and lays out a scenario where a brokered Republican convention could take place.

Now, it’s no secret that a brokered convention would be a catastrophe for Republican Party leaders use to grand coronations at their quadrennial national party events. After all, anything could happen. Chaos could rule or a dark horse candidate not officially sanctioned by the party oligarchs could emerge. In either case their lack of control would disrupt the usual smooth proceedings meant to portray to the nation a party united, happy, and excited about its standard bearer.

Given his campaign’s strategy of focusing on caucuses and out hustling his rivals at local, county, and state conventions nationwide the main beneficiary of a brokered convention would be Texas Congressman Ron Paul. The fact of the matter is that most Americans do not get involved in politics. Many rightly view it as an ugly, corrupt business. Others are too busy following American Idol, Dancing with the Stars, or the latest escapades of Lindsay Lohan. While others would rather leave it to the professionals. But, Ron Paul supporters are different. They may not outnumber the supporters of other candidates, but they are hungrier and more dedicated to their principles. They are much more willing to show up, outlast, and fight for delegate positions than the supporters of rival candidates. These attributes seem to be paying dividends for the Paul campaign at least in the early stages of the delegate selection process.

    • Paul is an impotent turd - this is nothing but wishful thinking from sad and pathetic Paulbots.

I don't know why anyone would support a racist, misogynist, antisemitic, homophobic, bible thumping, evolution denying, POS like Ron Paul.

But by all means, I encourage Paul and his evil little minions to wreak havoc on the GOP and their convention - they all deserve each other.

this old, tired and misleading Paul propaganda radio interview was discredited long ago, and changes nothing.

Why do you support a racist, misogynist, antisemitic, homophobic, bible thumping, evolution denying, POS like Ron Paul? Are you with Stormfront?

Consistency 2.) steadfast adherence to the same principles, course, form, etc. : There is consistency in his pattern of behavior.

Heres Ron Paul in 1988 saying the exact same things hes saying today, over 20 years ago.

Heres Ron Paul in 2002 predicting the economic crisis along with tons of other future government operations.

When you look at Ron Pauls voting record, he is almost always voting alone in many cases because he always votes in favor of the constitution. Even if its more money for department of education thats SUPPOSED to help kids, he votes against it because the DOE is not authorized in the constitution and has only been around since the 70s. Education today has failed. Students have $1 trillion in debt total out of college with an average of $26,000 of debt per graduating student.

You have that wrong again. Romney is supported by Wall Street. He's getting the money, not Obama. Republicans are supported by Wall Street. They know who will help the 1 %. The only hope for the middle class is Obama.

This is the last go around for Obama. Obama will let the Bush tax cuts expire. Any of the Republicans will renew them. They are for the 1%. Wall street likes that. Obama will have my vote.

      Romneys top donor: Goldman Sachs

      Obama's top donor: Goldman Sachs

Ron Pauls top 3 donors: US Navy, US Airforce, US Army

      Hmm, pretty tough choice.

The sad thing is you actually believe this pablum. Obama is bought by the 1% Lock, Stock & Barrell! I am SURE he will allow the Bush Tax Cuts that he EXTENDED last year to expire. He will then turn around and QUIETLY give them a shit load more rite offs to balance it all out. He gits a Pyrrhic victory the 1% get to keep their money all's well that ends well.

I of course KNOW Romney would do the same which is why I do not plan to vote for either of these creeps! Assuming Dr. Paul does not get the nomination I am going rogue again and voting third party. I think if more people voted for the person that they thought was best instead of the one they thought had the best chance of winning we would have MUCH better people in office!

Were never going to agree on Obama but we can on Romney. Obama extended the Bush tax cuts till the end of this year so he could extend the tax cuts and the payroll tax cuts for the middle class, ended DADT. The House teaparty fought him on this. For the middle class Obama got the better deal. He will let them run out and they will go back to the Clinton years. They did not trickle down and create jobs. They already have many write offs. He will do more for the middle class then any Republican. Paul will not get the nomination so I don't think of him.
Only Nov. will tell if Obama has the best chance of winning so I will vote for him because I do think he is best for the job. If anyone runs third party you only waste your vote but that is your decision. I will stand by mine.I am glad you won't give Romney your vote assuming he gets the nomination.

Your wrong because the figures show Romney has by FAR gotten more donations then Obama from Wall Street. A BIG difference in money to run on.They know who will benifit them in the White House. Romney!! .Romney got four times as much then Obama.

As far as Paul he will not get the nomination.

Ok but thats the whole point. America is where its at because of special interest groups have a huge roll in getting people elected because they know theyll give them breaks when they are in office.. Its no longer you and me electing these people, its special interest groups. So why vote for either criminal and sleep better at night knowing you voted for someone that actually believes in the constitution and knows what the role of government should be.

In 2008 Obama received most of his donations in small amounts from his base. Then the Supreme Court made corporations the same as people. This is why so much money is being spent this time. Not Obama's fault. Yet to win he needs to have money. Not criminal on his part. Put the blame on our judges. I believe in Obama so he has my vote and I will sleep quite well. If a republican gets in I will be a little disturbed. They will take from us and support the 1% more then Obama will.

Simple question. Do you support the troops enough to research the candidate in which they support?

They swear an oath to protect the constitution from foreign and domestic enemies. Why are they giving 2-3 times more donations to Ron Paul then ALL other republican candidates COMBINED including Democratic president Obama (combined).

Just answer me that. Give me your opinion on this simple analysis.

I do research the candidates. Paul is receiving more then all from the military, but Obama is a close second. I have always supported the military, but under Paul we will no longer have the greatest Miltary in the world.

I don't just support the Military but our country. Obama will do more for the middle class. He will keep our country safe and Paul will not get the nomination. As a country Obama will receive more then anything Paul raises. Shame to keep running and waste the money.
That is my opinion you ask for.

    • "They may not outnumber the supporters of other candidates"

I believe that they do outnumber the supporters of other candidates.

The other candidates have had to cancel rallies, address nearly empty rooms and a few early straw polls had to have supporters shipped in.

Meanwhile Ron Paul is addressing large standing-room only venues.

I fully agree. No kidding. Seriously. ( Somehow they will evade it,.....Romney will do it, somehow.. . . I dont think that party CAN be "kicked" , anymore,......in history,....even local American history,....parties with new names DO come into being - - - -and NOT necessarily "3'rd" parties ; America does SO like to be binary,......but SIMILAR,....but slightly different coalitions of power with new names and SLIGHTLY different centers of power and agendas ...)

      that may be the longest bit between ( . . . . ) I have ever been guilty of,....sorry.
This will be fun to live through. I think. I hope. I think living through this could happen,...and I am PRO that.

p.p.p.s. fuck his wife,....who ever and what ever shot whatever,....I think his wife shot him , on PURPOSE ! F his wife ( I do remember my response,.....sooooooo long ago )

p.p.p.p.s. sorry, lost sight o' the target at hand ; a certain elephant needs to be put down.
