    • Here's what I thought!

I'm not even eligible for the rewards scheme, but figured I'd share my opinion anyway. I'd been waiting for this game for ages, worrying I was gonna be disappointed, but I wasn't, it's brutal.

    • With MMA and the UFC growing in popularity it is no surprise that a good videogame was to follow, and yes it is good. The game is the first in the series and they have already promised another rendition next year hopefully improvements can be made on the few flaws 2009 contains such as some very awkward silent moments and problems with online connectivity. For a fighting game it is very intricate and can be enjoyed by a variety of fighters.

    • This is one of the most 'BURTAL' contact sports event of all time. UFC has dominated the PS1 and PS2 but does it have the nerve to dominate the PS3? Anyway the first thing that will hit you when you sit down to play UFC 2009 Undisputed is the complexity of the control scheme. Standard strikes are easy enough with a combination of face and shoulder buttons being used for high and low kicks and punches as well as blocking. There are some good counter atttacks to preform but most of them will aquire LUCK. You'll try repeatedly to do a reversal or transition out of a position and it won't work. Then, as if by magic, your final attempt gets the desired result.

The combat itself centres around the worthless AI, as demonstrated by the CPU's stamina, once this is down then there a chance of making the opposing fighter to submit and even KO'd. As it stands, it seems like building your fighter's submission offense is a waste of time unless you're planning on engaging in a ton of multiplayer matches.

The second issue is the definite lack of speed when you compare the game with actual UFC bouts. The result is a less organic and more mechanical fighting experience that doesn't recreate the real UFC games in the past. The only thing keeping UFC in the top ten are the graphics, multiplayer and even the career mode.

Graphics are a strong point in the game, All of the 80-plus fighters look and, for the most part, move like their real life counterparts and the framerate never dips to show significant slowdown. But having the game's tradmark of blood, cuts and brusing does tend to keep it in a well above average score. Career mode is where you're likely to spend most of your time building up to become a legend while the create-a-fighter option does allow you and design your brawler.

You start as a nobody and need to train yourself into the lean, mean fighting machine that is required to succeed, this is mostly done in training events by building up your core strength, cardio and speed attributes; spar in the ring; or you can even attend a UFC Camp.

All in all UFC has come a long way, but for this one has its fair share of issues for an up-start franchise, Career mode is fun, and well-designed, the combat is cool and visually engaging, multiplayer options and create-a-fighter have a good feel to them in case anyone wants to become a UFC legend, but that doesn’t mean that UFC fans and non-fans alike won’t have fun with the game once they get the complexities figured out.
