Although it currently sits in second place to Titanic, which earned over $600m, it reached its $500m in just half the time it took Titanic to do so.

haha, great movie, just saw it yesterday for the first time. but i would like to see the ticket sales instead of the money it made. around here tickets were about $3 less when titanic was out so there's probably a significant difference in ticket sales still.

It's probably going to beat Titanic's record money wise, but the really meaningful figure is obviously ticket sales: due to inflation many more people had seen Titanic when it had made $500m than have seen The Dark Knight.
