He said that while "there was a 'Bond, James Bond' in the script", "it never worked as we hoped."

You have to keep the line, I'm sorry I will still like the film but it makes me angry that they have taken out the line. In the whole of a two hour film they can't fit in one line that has to be in there? The shaken not stirred I can handle, but no "The names bond, James bond" its not a god damn James bond film with out it.

Ach, it's no longer a Bond film without that line! Along with the line about martinis shaken not stirred... How will we be able to tell it apart from just another big blow'emup action movie?

Good question. I'm all for losing the Roger Moore-esque cheesy bits but some of those catchphrases are what made (and continue to make) Bond so quintessentially unique.

If the next announcement is that Matt Damon will be playing Bond, only they're changing the name to Bourne, a part of me wouldn't be that shocked.

The name's Bond, James Bond.
I think losing this is like taking the jam out of Roly Poly. Criminal.

Whatever next?! A woman 'M'?? A German car instead of an Aston?? A Blond Bond?? I imagine there won't be a secret agent in the next film...

But they seem to have revisited the Ursulla Andress scene from Dr No in the last installment. Except it was Daniel Craig emerging from the waters with an over rippled body, not a Bond girl.

NO! You can't just change Bond like that. Bond is a british institution built on girls, cars and memerable catchphrases. The movies wouldn't be the same without Tha infamous Bond line.
This is just another nail in the coffin, Casino Royale was bad enough and now this, Bond has finally been beaten - 3 years ago

i wish they would keep the classic lines.. that's what made him famous and popular and so badass!
and for the record, i'd like to say that I don't think Daniel Craig is a good james bond actor.

Thank God that amidst all the turmoil in the world there can still be a front-page article concerning dialogue in an upcoming Hollywood production.

They could have just given it to someone else to say in a playful manner....like a lady stating "Oh Bond, James Bond where are you?"
But yeah if it doesn't fit it doesn't fit.

i believe this actor has the ability to make a new iconic catchphrase... one that is not completely boring.

Who cares if it didn't fit? The great thing about Bond movies is that they don't (or they didn't) take themselves too seriously, and just because the 'brand' (ugh) is being updated for modern times it doesn't mean that they should drop one of the film's iconic moments.

It'll come back in future iterations in like 10 years. Then it'll be all cool and retro and we'll turn to our kids and say, "That's what he used to say in the original films." And then they'll stare blankly back at us.

How will we know how well he stacks up beside Connery and others. Even if it is a jaded line a good actor can pull it off. Sean Connery has the longest pause, who else could keep you waiting so long for the next line without losing your interest.MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM Sean Connery. Sorry drifted off into a Sean Connery fantasy happens every now and then. MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM. Sean!

Yeh, it definetly belongs to a different age of James Bond movies, along with "shaken not stirred". In the new brand it would just be out of place.

They've got to keep with the times, when a phrase like that gets parodied so much I can see why it would might appear to lower the quality of an over all solid script.
