Actor/director Kenneth Branagh is talking to Marvel Studios about directing Thor, according to Variety. Director of movies such as Hamlet and Much Ado About Nothing, the Shakespearian director has also played memorable roles like Gilderoy Lockhart in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.

Branagh might be just that extra thing that Thor needs to differ from all the other superhero movies coming next few years.

    • Wait, I thought the director was already set?

The man behing Lock Stock and two smoking barrels, layercake, rock n rolla, and most recently the fantasy romp Stardust. I was quite excited about that.

If Branaugh is set to direct any comic book film it should be Sandman by Niel Gaiman.

Sorry apparently Mathew Vaughn (who was also slated to direct Xmen 3) was forced out of the deal because of Marvel contract agreement required a script by December :( They intend to keep on the screenwriter and script that Vaughn worked on but looks like Brannaugh is going to direct.

As it stands now, Thor is going to be a period Epic. Actualy set in Asgard. Looks like Thor gets to lay the smack down on some frost Giants big time!
