This character no longer makes sense.
America has become all of the things that Captain America was against.
What is he going to do, show up on screen and kill himself?
This is a joke, right?

That is what the Marvel Civil War was all about.
I very much doubt that the movie will get to that since it will most likely deal with the origin story

True but you have to build up to that since it loses its full meaning without showing all the background for it
Maybe they will have room to tell the whole story in future sequels

It's called a "MOVIE" guy... try and suspend some fucking disbelief and take it as such.
Yes the government of the United States is corrupt and the people haven't really tried to do a lot about it... but the same can be said for any dictatorship... But, that has nothing to do with Captain America.
So why don't you get off your high horse and just enjoy a piece of fiction for what it is???
So where is it that you are from that is on such moral high ground that you feel you so above the rest of us?
Captain America is a fictional comic book character who fought many villains but most notably the Nazi's. Even if you hate America (as you seem to) you can still respect a piece of fiction pertaining to fighting the Nazi's right? I mean... America was once a great country and all that... or so I have been told.

Your rant response to my post in the Cap' America thread made me laugh.
Thanks you.
But for the record, I don't hate americans just their laziness, indifference and especially what america has come to represent (torture, criminal invasion, illegal imprisonment without trial, kidnapping, should i go on?) You are right, america once was a great place but is no longer so a film about a great american hero just seems like propoganda and makes me laugh.
And if you think a "movie" is just a movie, you are misunderestimating the power of media.

Has anyone ever seen the Captain America movie from the early 90's?
or the Fantastic Four movie from the same era?
They are both worth renting just for a laugh.
I remember when I was a kid and thinking that I would never see a quality, live action, marvel movie.
And for the ultimate dork fact of all, Johnny Depp was supposed to play Peter Parker back in the early 90's but because the Captain America & Fantastic Four movies were so bad the studio said fuhq-it.

Yes but he's been involved with captain america and the comics. Considering there tying the marvel universe together it would be cool seeing a WWII mission and wolverine joining captain America in the mission.

The importance of this character is only dictated by his popularity not by his necessity.
I don't remember him being part of Captain America's missions....maybe later but not during WWII.

As far as the comic book timeline goes.He and captain America teamed up to take down HYDRA

Yes, but I don't think HYDRA will be part of the storyline this go around. It's going to be Red Skull. It's a lead up to the Avengers film...so most likely him vs the Red Skull and then frozen then Avengers defrosts him in their movie.

As the story goes, Wolverine is an old ass Mo Fo but he was in Canada during WWll. There would be no good reason to add him to this movie...
A more proper collaboration would be Hulk vs. Wolverine.
Or if you want to go way far out then they could just turn the new fantastic four into a movie.
Spider-Man, Wolverine, Ghost rider, Hulk...
Or even more far out would be Wolverine, Daredevil as Wolverine appeared in Daredevil before he was an X-man or even a "good guy"...

I always thought Captain America was cheesy and had no place in the Marvel Universe, but with all the epic super hero movies of late I will be looking forward to this.

The interesting point is how the Captain America story will be told. Initial suggestions say that the CA story will be set in WWII. Hopefully, this means that we will not have any "modernized" origin story being told.
In the comic books, the original CA is now dead and being played by a newer edgier Cap. In fact CA went to war to stop the encroachment of the government. Will we get a CA doesn't believe in his country or will we get the patriotic Cap that almost all comic readers loved?

They, no matter the decade it's created, will always use WWII as when he was first created. Because he ends up being Frozen so he can be unfrozen at any time. He is one of the few that can hold on to his origins without a problem.
Plus Marvel Promised his past would not be altered for the film adaptation.

I will have to agree that if they are going to do this right then it will have to be a period piece. It is very important that this story takes place during World War ll.

The story behind Captain America is really interesting. The creators (Writer Joe Simon and artist Jack Kirby) wanted to create a character that would counter the morally-reprehensible rise of the Nazi party in Germany, just before WWII.
In one famous cover, Captain America could be seen punching Hitler in the chops.
