Sheen: 'I'd rather play Barack Obama than Blair again'

Welsh actor, Michael Sheen, famous for portraying ex-UK PM Tony Blair, has a new role in his sights... the African-American, non-Welsh, Barack Obama.

The actor, who received critical acclaim for his performances as Tony Blair in The Deal and The Queen, joked that he would quite fancy playing Obama.

He said that if Robert Downey Jr. can play a black character on screen, (for his role in Tropic Thunder) then Sheen thinks he's ready to step up:

"I want to play Obama!" Why would I want to play Blair? If Robert Downey Jr. can do it in Tropic Thunder then I'm ready to play Obama!"


Hmm, think he might have a few extra hours in make-up...

    • Tony Blair is awesome why would you want to give that up and become so over poularized president, just because he is "the first african american", when the constitution stated all men are created equal, it mens all men of all races.... but obviously, the media thinks other wise, because lately I have been seeing a lot of african american families replacing the more common caucasian family in commercials, i have nothing against blacks or asians or anything elses I just think its quite the drastic change, just because we have "our first afrcian american president" who cares, hes just another guy, I honestly don't see why its such a big deal for him to be on all these plates and coins and what not and hes spent two days in office, its ridiculous...... I actually think its worse to be obseesed with barrack obama , a politician, whom obviously lies, and is in denial that this country is going to the shits, than it is to be obsessed with Paris Hilton, the blonde rich spoiled hotel heiress whom has very little responsibility..... No offense paris

      Are you sure you aren't a paid McCain blogger? You just wrote the celebrity add all over again. Look the election is over. People are obsessive right now because the challenges are so great. Men faced with simmilar situations ended up on the side of mountains. He may turn out to be a collousal failure but for the moment if he is to bring us out of this funk he needs our help and thats what he's getting. That won't last.
