So the film's finally been released, getting the press talking even more than they were before the movie came out. Some say it's the best graphic novel adaptation they've ever seen, others say it's overhyped, overrated, and generally not that good.

I still haven't managed to get out and see it, but I'm disregarding what the critics say and making my own mind up. Have you already seen it? What was it like? Are the critics's reviews fair or is it basically the best thing you've ever seen?

Check out some videos of the characters from the film below...

    • I'll be seeing it TONIGHT @ midnight (east coast time that is!) so I'll be back to bitch and moan about it! (Hopefully not, but I am a comic book nerd and Watchmen is arguably the best comic book EVER- if I had beef with the XMen and Spiderman movies, I can assume there will be beef with Watchmen!)

    • The writer, David Hayter, spoke to my class, and he literally copied and pasted the dialogue from the book into the screenplay. He said, "It is going to be brutally honest to the book."

      I cannot wait!

    • I LOVED THE NOVEL

and im scared that the movie wont live up to my expectations...

But from the clips that I've seen around the net it seems to be word for word and frame for frame from the book. which was exactly what I wanted.

    • I am afraid if I think about it too much it will spoil it for me. It is in the back of my mind, and as soon as it is playing I will go and see it.

But I am trying not to think much about it now - (sort of superstitious in a weird way).

    • Just saw an advanced screening. I liked it. But most (mundanes) will not. It isn't a happy ending, more like an unhappy, compromising ending.

    • It looks as though things will be pretty visually loyal to the novel, though I know a few things have been omitted from the story for time purposes. I'm so excited to see it Thursday night!

    • lets just be clear here though....this movie has not in fact been "finally released." March 6th people, lets not start any sort of confusion. Whoever's been lucky enough to see advanced screenings so far though, i'm jealous.

    • I 'watched' it and thought that visually it was amazing, but I think you have to be a Watchmen comic book aficionado to really get it. It was also way too long. Don't hate me. x

I tried to read the comic book and I am a nerd but found it really slow and actually boring......see also The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings.

I'm the worst Sci-Fi geek ever!

See Im a huge fan of the comic so this excites me. I think this was one of the times where the film really did have t cater to the fans first and the rest second...its not always the smartest move but so many people are so attached to this novel and its such a unique and un-superhero story that if they didnt cater to the fans it would totally crash and burn.

and how could you find the book slow SW2?! I read it in a few days! I couldnt put it down if I wanted to! hehe. Ive also re-read it about 15 times...true some of the articles and essays in the middle are a bit slow but they add so much to the story.
