Seth Rogen's Face

Now, it's not a terrible trailer by any stretch of the imagination - but my God, will I ever see an end to poster campaigns featuring the gormless moron looking...well, gormless?
I doubt it.
By the way, I base my theory on the fact that the last 4 films starring Seth Rogen (Knocked Up, Pineapple Express, Zack and Miri and this new one) have had the same poster. FACT.

I watched Knocked Up the other night, well most of it.
The movie essentially followed this plotline; a hot chick becomes pregnant after having a drunken one night stand with a man who has downs syndrome (Played by Seth Grogan). She then feels obliged not only to bring up the child but also become a full time carer for Rogan.
Whist the sentiment was admirable, I just found it difficult to believe and probably would of found it less disturbing if the film hadn't been played for laughs.

Dude, it's lazy marketing is what it is. But seeing as how I've sparked such a debate here, I'm going to continue to make dashing statements about films I don't much care for, it's fun to see how much it pisses of the Rogen fans! :)

For the people who have become his fans, his funny face sells those tickets, so producers now know to make one version of each of his movie's posters using nothing but a big close up of him.
Same reason Oprah has put herself on the cover of every single O Magazine... It sells the magazine to that segment of the population who will buy anything if they see Oprah's reassuring face encouraging them to do it.
Its just marketing.

Perhaps it's an inside joke.
Most Hollywood movie posters look the same anyway, with maybe five or six templates that are constantly recycled. The simplicity is nice, anyway.

I like Seth Rogen, I dunno.
Would you rather watch another "contract-a-minute" Will Farrell movie? He wouldn't know high brow humor if it bit him in the ass.

Because Seth Rogan is the epitome of high brow?

Oh come on, I hardly think Seth Rogen's comedy can be classed as "highbrow". That being said, I'm not knocking all of his films, just think it'd be nice if he altered his characters a little.
Plus, he was awesome as the mantis in Kung Fu Panda!

Normally I would mind...but every movie this guy stars in or makes is awesome in a different way, so ROCK ON Seth Rogen!

Let me just bring to the table exhibit A: Freaks and Geeks.
Maybe he can't recreate the awesomeness that was Freaks and Geeks, but I still find the guy amusing about half the time which is more than I can say for most other comedians out there of which Eddie Murphy, Adam Sandler and that Tyler Perry guy come to mind. Maybe Seth never had it, but those guys lost it a long time ago...
Not to mention Zack and Miri was fucking hilarious! But perhaps I am biased in favor of Kevin Smith there...

If you have ever seen a Tyler Perry play live, you wouldnt think he wasnt funny. The dude is hilarious live. His movies dont really do justice to the storylines at all. But then again, what movies do anything justice? [Books, plays, etc.]

Let him have his 15 minutes of fame....make that 12:54...
He will burn out in a year or two and then Spend the Rest of His Natural Life on some un-funny, moronic television "comedy"- complete with laugh track. Paul Newman or Brando he ain't......... - 3 years ago

With Knocked Up, the happy hum stayed with me hours after the credits had ceased to roll. He seems to work well with Judd Apatow (now hailed as Hollywood's unchallenged laughmeister). But Pineapple was one big yawn, shocking in fact. There were a few moderate laughs and a nice Jude Law gag, but the full on gory violence was disconcerting and unfunny. I hope Observe and Report works.. and yes dude, these poster templates are getting a little predictable.
