Film Piracy makes Xmen actor sad. But is it scripted?

Small article in Guardian about how woefully upset the new Xmen Wolverine actor is about the internet leak of his new film. Piracy certainly hurts films, especially indie flicks, but it's often far too transparent that actors are solely acting as the mouthpiece for the studios when they decry such activity.

I'd like to see an actor who's brave enough to say, 'Sure, you're doing something criminal and you're losing money for lots of financiers and therefore threatening the future of film financing structures for future filmmakers and producers - but DAMN, I'm so good in this film I want my acting to stand alone, profit-making or otherwise, it's a damn fine performance'.

But maybe it's just me...

    • I bet he's not as sad as the Fox News presenter who got sacked for reviewing the film, presumably from an illegal downloaded copy...
