"I'm so grateful I was cast, but when I read the script, I thought, 'Well, this is Warner Brothers. This is a studio movie, so this is all gonna be softened up. It's a comedy, right?' So when we were shooting it, even the date-rape scene--or as I refer to it, 'The Tender Love-Making Scene'--I just thought, 'We'll shoot it, but it's not gonna be in the movie. I don't have to worry about that one.' And yet there it is."

    • Or instead of taking the feminist approach, maybe you could criticize the fact that girls shouldn't "like take a million shots" until they're so belligerent that they think going home with an a-hole rent-a-cop is a good idea. Why does every girl who has some complaint about society automatically think they're qualified to be a feminist spokesperson? Its a comedic film about a jerk cop, the scene fits perfectly. No one is going to see the scene and think, "Oh I should totally go out and get a girl to take bi-polar medication and get her drunk so I can get laid too." I don't know though maybe I'm just getting defensive b/c Seth Rogen is a comedic bad ass.

Better opinion on the topic right here:

    • seth didn't write the script.

giant companies like fox only take on scripts and movies that sell, they don't care if its good or not. also you need to learn how to take a joke. if you can't take a joke then you must be some sort of alien...

    • How about a FFFU about something that matters? like the legalized rape of women in Afghanistan? I'm sorry, even as a woman, this is a little over the top to be angry about. Be angry about ACTUAL rape, not fictional "rape" in a brainless comedy where the main character is a freakin' creeper.......

    • what if he had actually date raped a chick in real life? what sort of cute feminists initials do you have for him then? and quit calling us bromen!
i'd like to point out that in the movie, seth rogen's character is very dilusional so in his mind he probably thought that she wanted to fuck him anyway, he paused becuase he wasnt aware that she was "asleep".

    • I agree with crysnogo:

Why is Seth Rogan taking the heat for this scene? - he is an ACTOR. That is his job. He acts. When you are told to ACT like an asshole who date rapes his date - he ACTS like an asshole that date rapes his date. And then he gets paid. Because that is his job.

Also, to all the idiots who take movies as real life - you are idiots.

I have not seen the movie personally. I am a fan of Seth Rogen, but I was just not interested in what this movie was about to watch it. Friends that have seen this movie have said it was not crazy funny and that the "date rape" scene was awkward and that nobody watches it and laughs. Maybe that is what it is supposed to do...

Seth Rogen - you are still funny in my book - even though you can be a victim of bad writing...like any actor and actress can be...

Oh and this rant had nothing to do with feminism by the way - it had everything to do with miss-placed anger and this girl's opinion - which she is perfectly free and encouraged to express - but it should not be blamed on feminism. If this girl is offended by something - SHE should be expressing it for herself and not grouping other people in with her.

    • I don't if I stopped watching this video half way through because of the absurdity of the "feminist message" or if it was the absolute annoyance of the woman herself.

"5 out of 6 Americans don't give a shit about uptight feminazis." ... perfect

    • Somehow I thought the entire premise of the film was to glorify the morally questionable, politically incorrect actions of a douche security guard. He's obviously supposed to be a creep, and that's what makes this a dark comedy. The guy savagely beats up a bunch of kids for skateboarding on mall property. He's not someone anyone is going to seek to emulate.

Incidentally, I had a dream about Seth Rogen last night. When people complain that Seth Rogen is in everything, they're not exaggerating.

And why screw Seth Rogen? Why not screw Anna Farris? Don't they bear equal responsibility for the scene (along with the writer and director and producers)?

    • Indeed, these new feminists aren't uptight like the old feminists. It was a movie, grow up holy shit.

1 out of 6 women are sexually assaulted, so we shouldn't show this in a movie. Does that mean we shouldn't show murder in movies either?

5 out of 6 Americans don't give a shit about uptight feminazis.

    • She makes a valid point. She's trying to shed serious light on an issue that doesn't properly get discussed enough. I agree with her.

    • Did she know this was a comedy? You can't take the scene seriously at all, considering the fact that she says "why did you stop?" when she was coming to. In real life, she would be asking "what the hell are you doing?!".

    • Fellini, wow welcome to 2009. Go watch some silent film where everyone cries. If you don't like it don't watch it! Simple? I don't watch ellen guess why? She's annoying. I don't log in and cry about it to everyone. Get off your soap box no one cares as much as you think they do.

well judging by how the story is now number 1 on the movie page, i'd say they do care to some degree. No offense intended, brosef.

By the way, I'm not the woman in the video. I'm a brosef too. Just know when a line is crossed.

    • And I just noticed: it's important to note loustriker and the woman in the video ARE NOT THE SAME PERSON.

So, please keep this in mind before you write some of those fun derogatory comments that we here at Current enjoy deleting.

And keep the comments civil, kids.

    • I love how everyone's only response is something totally unintelligent like "fuck you, dike!" or "huh huh. she's on her period."

The point isn't that it's going to inspire a date rape. It just has a little bit of a negative impact on the entire paradigm. And yeah, it's noteworthy. If you have an actual argument, write it down.

    • It's called free will. I'm sure the writers/directors didn't force him to do this scene. He read the script and took the part. At some point I hope he had a conflict of conscience and thought "Wow, date rape is a serious issue and not funny at all... BUT I am getting paid millions of dollars so fuck it LET'S DO THIS SHIT!" Rape is the most heinous crime on the face of the earth, and if you will sell out to that, I'm guessing you will sell out to anything.

    • Has plenty to do with it. Killing people in a movie is the same as rapeing someone. Right? Are you happy when the bad guy dies? It's still an illegal act. Stop crying welcome to cinema!

    • I don't know why you are so cynical about what she said, I don't really see anything wrong with it. She pointed out Seth Rogan because he's the star of the movie and it gets the most attention if she says that and not just the writer or director. She makes her claim and it does have a great amount of logic to it, many boys don't realize what they're doing is actually wrong and scenes like that actually may sway them in similar situations to act that way.

If anyone is swayed by a scene in a comedy film, then I don't think their brain is in the right place to begin with and I highly doubt they'd be making the correct decision to begin with.

Men aren't all morons. Just like not all women will get sloppy drunk and black out and not take a moment to protect themselves and think about what they're doing. If you watch the film you'll understand that his character ISN'T likable. This isn't a movie about a male role model!

I just don't understand why Farris gets excused because she "thought they'd edit" the scene out, and yet Rogen gets berated. Why? Because he's a male?

Take it up with the writer and director. Take it up with the producers. There were a lot of people at play in this film and Seth Rogen is just one small pawn.

right. But the point is that the moment is portrayed with an attitude of acceptance. It's unacceptable. This movie isn't going to inspire someone to have sex with a sleeping girl, but it moves the whole paradigm of what is acceptable backwards.

if anna farris had any problem with the scene then she shouldnt have done it in the first place, regardless of whether or not it would have made it into the movie. this is so ridiculous.
