HOLLYWOOD -- As Hollywood marks Earth Day, Participant Prods. is moving forward on an untitled environmentally themed action-adventure pic.
The company behind Al Gore's Oscar-winning environmental doc "An Inconvenient Truth" has tapped scribe Miles Chapman to pen the script.
Story revolves around the dangerous search for a mystical artifact lost in the heart of Africa.
Participant's Jonathan King and Erin Stam are shepherding the project.
Participant, which inked a multipic distribution deal with Summit Entertainment in January, has other eco-themed pics in development, including "The Legacy of Luna," which is based on the true story of Julia "Butterfly" Hill, who lived for two years in a 1,000-year-old California redwood as a way of bringing attention to the ravages of deforestation.
Next up for Participant, which was founded by former eBay honcho Jeff Skoll, is Jamie Foxx starrer "The Soloist."
Chapman wrote "The Tomb," which is set up at Summit with Jeff Wadlow attached to direct. He is currently rewriting "Protection" for 20th Century Fox and Davis Entertainment and sold his original pilot "Priceless" to ABC Studios last year with Di Bonaventura Pictures and Mojo Films exec producing and Gary Fleder attached to direct."
