Did you know with approximately 50 percent of the world's tropical forests already gone, deforestation is taking its toll on the native plants, animals, and insects that call those places home: it's estimated that 137 species a day are going extinct.
This new green social networking site is not only a site that is all about green, each new member will get a tree planted in there honor!

Planting green things can only be a good thing. It is a positive push in a wonderful direction, yeah for Disney!! If it is that good they will do it again.

It's a really good thing... however, why did it take Disney's efforts to plant trees in Brazil? Why didn't Brazil plant trees in Brazil?

so does this make disney good? this is, mind you, the same disney that commits millions of human rights violations in China where its sweatshops are located, where its employees work 16 hour days six, and often seven days a week, for about 16 cents a day with humiliating work conditions. sure 2.7 million trees are nice, but how many trees have been destroyed for disney's children books and other consumable goods? does 2.7 million trees offset disney's CO2 production over the past seventy years?
this is why i hate pseudo-virtuous corporations.

That's good news for the planet, as well as Disney's reputation, which seems to have faltered significantly. If anyone can afford to plan millions of trees, however, Disney would certainly qualify. I hope other companies follow suit by either planting trees or by preventing existing forests from being exterminated.

This is wonderful news, I'm glad to hear Disney doing this. I've been wanting to see Earth for a while, hopefully this weekend.

Awesome. Hope they planted some in the Indian reservation (native american). We cut down their forest and gave them a dirt field.
Wonder what they will do for the next Earth (Ocean?) movie. - 2 years ago

And one of them was mine. That's great. Let's hope they stay in the ground and aren't cut down as well.
