Passing Through: Life is But a Small Town, We’re Just Passing Through

"Passing Through" is a short film that echoes the modern psychological theme of the “tragic man.” It resonates with an underlying message that whoever you are, whatever you do, life is but a small town. And we’re just passing through. At best, we might leave our mark in the sands of time with the sadly nostalgic reminiscence that, “I have made nothing, but destroyed nothing.”

This short film very aptly reflects the social and economic times that many people currently are experiencing. A movie theater is replacing its old projection system with a new modernized one, and the older projectionist has suddenly been told that after many years he is being let go. On his last day at work, the aging projectionist locks himself in his projection room and instead of showing the scheduled blockbuster movie, he shows the very first film that he ever he saw. Somberly, he reflects back upon his life as having been nothing but a small town, and he was just passing through.
