    • I like bad movies and this had the distinct whiff of being one.

Sometimes, you just want to sit back and watch something mindless, but fun. This looked like that kind of film. Oh, but it isn't...

It's bad. Very bad. Very, very bad. Or perhaps even worse than that.

I didn't like American Pie very much, but I did enjoy how they handled the awkwardness of teenage sexual experiences. This films seems to think it's doing that, but it's not. There's an impression given that the script-writer banged this out as a "that'll do" effort and it would have greatly benefited from a complete re-write.

Every actor seems to be trying desparately to emulate the archetype of a similar character from American Pie... and failing. You've got a Stiffler-type who isn't brash enough or funny enough to be Stiffler. You've got your Jim character who isn't likeable enough for you to feel any real sympathy. And so on...

The humour is crude and just not funny. I'm hardly the most sophisticated viewer, but I cringed with embarassment at many of the "jokes" - I was embarassed that the production crew would think such a thing to be funny at all. There also seem to be small pauses after many of the allegedly funny bits, as though they expected the cinema audience would be laughing and would need a second or two in case they missed the next dialogue. But laughter came there none.

This is film-making at its most basic and it really felt like a painting-by-numbers approach. I got the feeling that the producers had sat down and decided to make an American Pie/Role models film and had just hunted through those movies, snatching characters and situations and shoving them together. In many ways, it felt like one of those Epic Movie films, where a bunch of jokes and situations are just slammed next to each other without any real narrative or story.

Like Hunter the Cat says, get Role Models instead. It's precisely what this film would like to be, but isn't.

    • i thought this was a terrible movie. I was so badly hoping for another Road Trip, but it doesn't even come close. Characters and plot are so cliche (bully older brother, internet hottie turns out not to be, missioning to meet a girl only to realise your dream girl was right in front of you). Jokes are totally basic, like being chased through a cornfield by a hick who caught you in bed with his girlfriend. This really is terrible...get Role Models instead.

    • Sex Drive isn't quite as good as Road Trip, but it comes close.
With witty one liners, a good cast, and an imaginative storyline this film will have you in stitches.
