I saw this on Sunday and it's a perfect film for a Sunday afternoon. The costumes are fantastic and has made be want to go back in time so that I can flounce about in Michelle Pfeiffer's gorgeous dresses.
Both Pfeiffer & Friend are perfectly cast. She nails the ageing beauty brilliantly (I love how she's looking her age now but all the better for it) and although she doesn't want to fall in love with her toy boy she can't help herself.
Rupert Friend is a brill lazy fop and looks expertly bored throughout much of the film, only really animated when he's with Pfeiffer.
Overall it's probably a bit of a "girls" film - we were certainly in the majority in the audience. However, it's a great story of a romance with a massive age difference in a time when it would have been hugely frowned upon.
