Egomaniac crackpot, prophet, or genius; call him what you will, Ray Kurzweil has developed some of the influential devices, predict some of the greatest technological developments and received almost every honour you can think of bar nobel prize.
His primary theory though is based around singularity; part of this theory outlines the idea that at some point technological development will accelerate to a point where we will only be able keep up by interfacing directly with the technology we ourselves have developed- essentially interacting directly with AI, that is capable of replicating human thought and intelligence- and he predicts that this will happen by 2029...
