LaBeouf May Not Be Y: The Last Man

Shia LaBeouf, in a recent interview with Wizard magazine, expressed his doubts of him starring in Y: The Last Man . LaBeouf has been linked to the the project for a while. However with production insight, director DJ Caruso and writer Carl Ellsworth are ready to bring the comic book tale by Brian K. Vaughn to life.

The story is basically about Yorick, a young guy escape artists who finds that he's the last man alive on Earth after a plague kills every male, and every male animal, on the planet except for Yorick and his pet monkey Ampersand. He soon becomes a target pretty much everyone he goes.

LaBeouf looked like a perfect actor to play Yorick role, but now states, "You take Sam Witwicky, and you put a monkey on his shoulder. I don't know if it's that big a differential. It seems like he's the ordinary guy in an extraordinary situation again.

He added, "I'm not willing to make that movie currently, and may be too old to play the role by the time it does come around."

This could mean that he may not be part of the project.

    • PS, whoever wrote this article needs to proof read their copy.

Plus get their facts straight. It's every male MAMMAL that died, if it were everything male then it really would have been the end of the world.

    • Thank all that is good and pure that Shy Beef is not on this project. He managed to ruin Indie 4 (with assistance from Lucas) and destroyed Tramsformers (with the help of Michael Bay). All his other roles have been utter tosh...

I don't understand Hollywood's fasination with this talentless loser, oh yeah, I forgot, he's pretty... pretty cack.

I love Y:TLM and want the film (hopefully a series of films) to be as standout as the LotR trilogy.

We someone akin to a young Robert Downey Jnr. for such a complex role.

My god! You are absolutely right! Why not Downey, then??? I'm sure they will take creative license to change some things anyway. Downey would bring a more sophisticated, leading man view to it.

I didn't hold much hope for Downey until I saw and was impressed by Iron Man.

      He really held that film!

And you know, La Doof must be sleeping with lots of producers and Hollywood handymen or something. It astounds me that an entity so lacking in talent or grace could fill so many roles...unless, of course, he's the love-child of Spielberg???

I put him in the same pile of doody that was thrown at the wall by Hollywood and just happened to stick, as Hayden Christianson. A great report on him and Lucas' obsession with HIM can be found here:

    • Sweet! That is the best news! Share the Beef is synonymous with shit. Now we just have to hope they don't cast Orlando Bloom...

Everyone should read the series before they make a hash of it on the bigscreen.
