Well now JJ Abrams confirms to TV Guide that he will be reteaming with Tom Cruise to produce Mission: Impossible 4.

A 4th movie in the franchise really isn't necessary. But if JJ Abrams can make it better than M:I-2 (not hard to do, but still) like he did with 3, I'd be satisfied.

IMO, the only saving grace for MI:2 was the camerawork. There are some scenes in there that are shot absolutely beautifully for an action film.
Otherwise, yes, MI:III was much better.

That was easily the best of the trilogy. But it needs to be said that JJ's Mission: Impossible III was quite decent and far better than what John Woo did with M:I-2.
