Michael Bay: Megan Fox "Says Some Very Ridiculous Things"

Megan Fox slammed Transformers director Michael Bay for focusing more on special effects than acting, but he doesn't mind.

"Well, that's Megan Fox for you," Bay tell the Wall Street Journal. "She says some very ridiculous things because she's 23 years old and she still has a lot of growing to do.

"Nick Cage wasn't a big actor when I cast him, nor was Ben Affleck before I put him in Armageddon. Shia LaBeouf wasn't a big movie star before he did Transformers -- and then he exploded. Not to mention Will Smith and Martin Lawrence, from Bad Boys," he points out.

    • The movies I like that Michael Bay directed are The Rock, The Island, and Armageddon. But I'm not into very computer animated movies and I don't like Shia LaBeouf movies either, so Transformers is a crappy combination.

    • At least he didn't blame Megan Fox's "toe thumbs" as the reason for all the special effects. I would have. ;P

For a while I wondered if I was the only one who noticed (or fixated) on those. It's the genetical equivalent of the premise of Twins, only instead of all the shit DNA going to Megan's unfortunate twin, it seems to reside in her thumbs.

    • yesindeed! that makes so much sense, thank you!

"People are well aware that this is not a movie about acting."

THAT'S why Shia is in the movie!

      It all makes sense now...

    • Wow! If Michael Bay tells me that I have a lot of growing to do.. Michael Bay, the most pre pubescent-mind director of the history of moving pictures tells me that... I don’t know how to feel.

And he’s right about actors. What is Ben Affleck Oscar compared to Armageddon? Nothing! Leaving Las Vegas? I don’t know that movie.

Affleck still had "Good Will Hunting," and Will Smith will be making bank for a long time for "Fresh Prince of Bel Air." And Nick Cage would have still found work, with no problems. Where is Nick Cage these days anyways?

I think Michael Bay needs to give these actors more credit. Megan Fox is right. He does focus in a lot in SFX.

    • I am tired of hollywood selling me the same shit over and over again. It doesn't matter how good of a cook you are if the recipe sucks.

    • you can see bay's level of maturity in his responses. this actually makes me like megan fox more and bay even less (if that's possible). bay has never been a good director because good directors have to be able to do it all, not just coordinate elaborate sfx and vfx. but his self-congratulatory attitude and narcissism make him a less than desirable human being.

best thing here would have been for him to agree that he was not focusing all of his attention on the actors but rather on the action sequences...

    • Its not like Megan Fox is wrong. Everyone knows that if it wasnt for the green screen and powerful CGI Micheal Bay would be a nobody and Tranformers wouldnt have made a dime. Personally i am growing numb to movies that are so CGI and animation heavy that you dont even notice the actors. And who the fuck does Micheal Bay think he is?
He actually tried to take credit for Will Smith, Ben Affleck, and Nick Cage? Seriously Micheal?
Guess you never heard of movies called Six Degrees of Seperation, Good Will Hunting, or Moonstruck?

      love six degrees of separation.
all the bad boys series did is set will smith up as an action star. which is another way of saying it set up his wallet to get filled. which is the only thing michael bay is good at, filling the wallets of people who don't need the money.

i haven't seen any of the transformers yet-saw one on the paramount lot. anyways...notice he(MB) doesn't say they became 'good actors' but "big actors."
They were all good actors before he cast them and they did good acting work in films that focused on acting.
but after MB put them in his movies, those good actors became "Big Actors" assuming all the special effects enhanced good acting abilities while giving them super box office status. which means good actors just standing around can get by and let special effects do the work. ;-)
we would love to be in a Michael Bay movie. we are only so so actors on the way to being good! So everyone when you need to become a big actor, pls call Michael Bay!!! we sure will!!!

    • I read the whole article and Michael Bay has some rly big ego. She was correct, that movie had no acting in it, less than the first movie. She said the movie put her in the job, so why did he need to make a lil list of actors.
