You actually need 4 direct eye witnesses to an act of fornication/adultery/sexual immorality, and the punishment isn't stoning. It's actually being whipped... also the person isn't to be put to death for this particular crime. Also once the punishment has been put in place then it is to be considered as cleared from the persons record, and they are still considered as Muslim and as human throughout all of this... None of what is said in this video represents the Qur'an, Islam or the shari'ah! Also the protests regarding the election in Iran were not about getting rid of having Islamic law, Moosavi is just as much a supporter of Islamic law as Ahmedinijad, and never campaigned against it, so his supporters were protesting for a more transparent electoral process, not the removal of Islamic law. So if this event did take place (the stoning of soraya) and if it continues in Iran, or anywhere else for that matter, then it has no basis in Islam or the shari'ah of the Qur'an and the prophet Muhammad (pbuhahf) Although equality for men, women and children and every human being is very much important to highlight and fight for, these movies and often the books they are based on are not helpful and only serve to further a very orientalist view of the east and Islam, which is just harmful to the fight for equality it claims to help with.

America Used to Speek out against things like Stoning of Women and yes our CIA did what it could do to help People like the Green Party in Iran. We did not always get it right..True But if you ask People who now live in Free Countrys thanks to efforts of our CIA they would not have us do it any other way ...We Elecetd a new government who basically said we are going to do nothing about bad things happening around the World thanks to the Internet we all get to see what will happen when the 'Police of the World" step off the stage.

any word that begins with "mono" comes from a male's point of view. to abstract, to draw a line in the sand, to say there is one deity, to see things in black and white...thankfully, this is dying and has been for more than a century. one day intuition and holism will be seen as important as rationalism and reductionism. we have been under the thumb of monotheism for a long time...it is like turning the titanic around. just know that, regardless of all the strife people are going through, the wheel is turned all the way to the left.

This looks so powerful, I want to see it! I am so sorry for her niece, who was stoned to death for being falsely accused of adultery. Sharia law must be examined by the world and I think particularly by Muslims. It does not allow for individual judgement, and why would you be gifted with this if all situations are to be judged the same?

This is a theocracy, the governing by men, for men with no voice to women and girls. They are led by the religious leaders. And just who are these leaders and what doctrine do they enforce?

My husband is from Iran and he was hoping that one day they would make a movie about somthing nice about Iran, all we see is the bad.I saw the movie and when it came time for the stoning I walked out,but I should have stayed they didn't really show a stoning I have seen one on the internet. You have to remember that this is not just happening in Iran. We as women need to stop this act that goes on in alot of countrys.

While rotten tomato seems to have given it a final rating of 55%, IMDB placed it at a 7.8. I thought this was a nice discussion on the movie, as I had not seen a trailer for it until this moment. I want to see this movie and my drive has been further influenced by Shohreh Aghdashloo discussion on her country, fear for her family's lives and her activism. I know little about her as an actress but wish to learn more as she seems like a great role model.
