Éole: The Answer is Blowin’ in the Wind

“Éole” is a wonderful short 3D animated film that tells the story of a yellow-shirted sailor on an aircraft carrier who unexpectedly encounters a red kite. The film presents a metaphor for the choice between a way of life always standing in readiness for imminent war, versus some different kind of life. The way of the kite is peacefully poetic, one in which the sky is only the lower limit.

This piece includes a number of colorful illustrations from the film, as well as the beautiful animated short, “Éole.”

      Yes, the tone of the film's message does seem to be an admixture of melancholia and hope. The more I think about that, I wonder if it doesn't lead to an escape into fantasy, which could/might leave the poor fellow feeling even more isolated than he initially seemed to be. Just wondering....
