Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland Trailer Hits The Internet

chanelleberlin
The trailer for Tim Burton's 'Alice In Wonderland' has shown up on the web. Some are already criticizing it, saying that its lead, Mia Wasikowska, looks too old to play Alice.

What do you think? Do you agree?

    • I read somewhere that this is supposed to be somewhat of a sequel to the original story. Alice is supposed to be about 17 and running away from a man she was supposed to marry. She had been down the rabbit hole before but forgot about it and then ended up back there again...I think that story line will bring kind of a twist to the story and make it more dramatic which I'm sure will appeal to an older audience. Either way, this movie looks awesome, I'm excited! :D

    • I saw this for the first time last night and thought that it was supposed to be the original story, which, without seeing it yet, I wish they would have done instead of making up a sequel (Return to Oz, anyone?)

But now that I know that, I'm not as curious or worried that they play up the mad hatters role. it wasn't a huge one in the book but i thought they would mess with the original story to put him in it more b/c it's johnny depp.

i'll see this in imax. im sure i'll be entertained, but as an alice in wonderland fan , i hope i'm not too disheartened with the story they wrote.

    • This movie will be absolutely sick on an iMax screen! Johnny Depp's makeup alone could probably give an epileptic a seizure.

And also, what's up with all this Charlie and the Chocolate Factory hatred?

Am I the only one who liked the movie?

People don't like it because their childhood vision of Willy Wonka was ruined.

Too bad most don't realize that in THE BOOK, Wonka was that damn creepy.

So Depp was actually right. I did hate the ompa-things though.

See I didnt like it because I thought it didnt do justice to the book. I read it as a kid so when Burton kept billing the movie as being like the book I got excited....maybe too excited. Thats why Im going into this one with low expectations, that way if its good I'll be pleasantly surprised ;)

Nonetheless, I have absolutely no doubts about another Burton-Depp matchup.

Book romanticists/original flick lovers, I'm sorry. I tend to judge new media on its own merit instead of comparing it to even the book or movie it may have been based on.

      My apologies folks.

    • Alice can't be "too old" because this is a sequel to the classic story - the Alice in this film is about to be married! She's the right age according to the story - I just wish they'd given the original material a go instead of writing their own!

    • Well in the book she is 7 and a half...so yeah she would be a little old.

'“Let’s consider your age to begin with—how old are you?” asked the White Queen.
“I’m seven and a half exactly,” said Alice."

But if as kid_amy said its supposed to be 10 years later then that would be right..although the trailer makes it seem as though its the same story line as the original book.

I have to admit the trailer makes me a little more optimistic...it does look beautiful and as long as its better than Charlie and the Chocolate Factory I'll be pleased.

shouldn't be that hard to make it better than that new willy wonka. there should be a law against remakes (though it wasn't a direct remake) of great movies.

    • I thought Alice was like a teenager, since she is reading a novel.. So I don't think Mia is to old. I can't wait to go see this movie!

    • Whoa, that cat gave me the willies. And I do think Alice looks too old. Maybe he has some point in casting someone so old, but I thought Alice was a little girl. Hmm.
