I heard about this on a radio show in St. Paul and got a copy. Seeing and hearing these villagers was like I was in a cultural twilight zone. Some of their stories freaked me out like nothing I've ever seen in Hollywood. I'm glad I found it here so I could vote it up. Kudos to the creators.

This is the website to my first film, "Across the Forest". My friend Justin Blair and I went to Transylvania (west of the Carpathian Mountains in Romania) to ask the local villagers about their supernatural beliefs. We knew that Transylvania had a reputation as a "scary" place because Bram Stoker made this area famous with his book Dracula.
This film deals with "strigoi" which is the creature Stoker wedded with Wallachian prince Vlad Tepes to create the modern version of the vampire. A strigoi, which shares some characteristics with the vampire, is more like a ghost. We got many stories about strigoi but we also got a wide variety of stories that we didn't expect.
One man told us that him, his friend and their horse and carriage were abducted by a cloud and when he came to they were in a different part of the woods they had never been to. Another woman told us a story about how her friend was cursed and turned into a "pricolici" (a weredog kind of creature) that was made to wonder the hills from dusk until dawn. This inspired pity more than fear from her and us.
Anyway, I would recommend that if you want to make a documentary, don't make one in a language you are not proficient in. We shot the film in Transylvania but then we had to return to translate it and translating 42 hours of footage takes quite a toll on you.

I edited your title. And would think it be awesome if you told us more about your doc. What went into it, etc?
