Dead Space Gets a Movie

Along with the recently announced Warcraft movie, it seems another video game is being converted into a motion picture. This time it is EA's spooky third person shooter Dead Space. Here are the details:

"The Electronic Arts hit vidgame "Dead Space" is on course to become a sci-fi/horror film, with "Eagle Eye" helmer D.J. Caruso attached to direct.

EA will produce the film with Temple Hill partners Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey.

The producers, EA and Caruso have been listening to takes from prospective screenwriters, and once they set a writer and EA signs off on a creative direction, they will auction the property to studios. That will likely happen in early September."

    • Im sure the Dead Space Movie has already been made... Ive watched it...?!

I was also looking quite forward to the halo movie but they canned it because the producers / microsoft couldnt be bothered. Shame. Woulda have been quite good aa halo movie. Would have been interesting how they would have done it to.

    • Maybe they should stop trying to make games into movies but focus on making more games FEEL like movies?

Dead space is not one that needs improving on the cinematic front, it was amazing in every aspect. It was scary because it was so engaging with its perfect graphics that it felt like it was you holding the gun creeping round corners.

I dont think translated to movie it would have the same effect...i could be very wrong.

    • Caruso could be quite good for this I think. He's done some not too shabby films in the past, alongside four episodes of 'The Shield' and, ahem, a few episodes of 'Smallville.'

And Artist220, a BIOSHOCK movie should definitely be made.

    • There's been a increase in video game movies lately, I wonder if a single company is going to start making movies only about video games...
