The question I pose to you all is will the Castlevania live action adaptation be better? Wired's gaming life section has just run an article confirming what horror blog Bloody Disgusting had run earlier this month. James Wan the writer and director of the original Saw film wants to helm the project already in pre-production and he wants his compatriot fellow Saw and Death sentence alum Ian Jeffers to help write and direct.
Wan would also be one of the first Asian directors to handle a video game adaption in Hollywood as well as one of the first to have worked in video games before, Wan produced the live action promos for the Dead Space series with EA. In Wan's own words, “The thing I love about what Konami did with Castlevania was taking the iconic Dracula mythology and Eastern-European setting, and retelling it with a Japanese pop-cultural sensibility,” he said.
I think its hard to argue against that point, that is what made Castlevania fun. I think having someone who loves horror, loves games, and has a background is Western cinema but has Asian cultural roots is the perfect person to steer this project to theaters. In fact I think it might be the only person to be able to do so in the way it needs to be done.

Hollywood is running out of ideas. Lets pile a list of games-movies coming out soon. I think:
Prince of Persia
Shadow of the Colusses
God of War
World of Warcraft
Halo
Another Mortal Kombat
Gears of War
Dead Space
Another Resident Evil
and now Castlevannia is about all. (isn't Assiasins Creed getting a movie?)I think that Zelda April Fools joke may become a reality...

Well, I do hold out a glimmer of hope with every announcement of some live-action adaptation, but so far, I've had that hope crushed into tiny little fragments. Like usual I'll wait until I see some photos or a trailer and then make my decision.
:sigh: I yearn for the day of a good adaptation. One day...
