Capitalism, the latest documentary from Fahrenheit 9/11 director Michael Moore, features in the official competition at this year's Venice Film Festival.

The film, in which Moore looks at the global economic meltdown, is one of 23 titles up for the Golden Lion award.

    • I think, from the experience of years of living, that most people do not want to know the truth about anything. Me, being as most people have found that whenever someone tells me something that resembles the truth I wish not to hear, I become angry and lash out at them. Not at the truth they may have suggested but at the person that said it! There is a part of me that does not want the truth to be discussed by anyone, i want it forgotten and buried beneath a pile of personal attacks. The whole truth is something that perhaps we will never know. But even a hint at a partial truth makes me nervous. My ego mind does not exist to hear any of this truth but to deny and ridicule it. I have seen all of Micheal's movies and the fact that he upsets me makes me wonder what small truths he may be onto.

    • Isn't it a shocker that the reactionary among us can't think of anything more "worry" than the adult equivalent of tantrums "till my bunk is so full of bunk that I ... Wah, wah, wah"

Have fun in that fantastic life. I'd love be able to sell my soul and be such a corporate shill.

    • Michael Moore is a fuckin' patriot, and shame on all you twerps for harping on an easy target.

Yeah, he's butt fugly. Yeah, he's fat.

You know what else? He's a longtime statesman (ran for office at 18, and won), a lifelong indy journalist, a lifetime NRA member, a former colleague of Ralph Nader, and a fellow EAGLE SCOUT (yeah, me too).

He actually understands what makes America great, and the reason he does what he does is because he is fighting for it against the corporate ticks that feed off the blood of our nation's livelihood.

His work has done nothing but good for America, and the corporate media tears him up because he shows the world what greedy fucks they all are.

Yeah, so he says what's unpopular to say.

      He's also RIGHT.

      Suck it.

    • And isn't it a real shocker that all the Pro-Moore people will stand in line to butter his ass rolls? Seriously common knowledge (or sense) doesn't have to be cited in a paper like anyone worth his salt would waste time debunking someone that is so full of bunk it'd be a waste of time...

When Moore says or does something intellectual we'll come up with an argument worry of it :-)

    • Should it surprise me that all the anti-Moore comments on this topic amout to nothing more than cheap shots about his weight? Well, I guess it's a hell of a lot easier than trying to come up with an intellectual argument, huh?

Anyway, I'm really interested in seeing this movie.

    • But that is part of the point. The capitalista will go with anything that makes a buck! And if Mr. Moores little offering will do that, well, by gum, the corporate bottom line never looks any further than ... (drumroll please)

      The bottom line.

I do, however think that the good Mr. Moore will go the untimely and sad end that John Candy and Iz Kamakawiwo'ole did.

    • let me get this..micheal moore thinks that capitalism is soooo bad that he is going to a CAPITALIZE on that and make a movie in which he will MARKET AND SELL to FRANCHISED movie houses for a fee in which in turn they will PROFIT from it?????????????????/

know i know that these liberals who follow this fat f*ck around are clueless, naive and deserve to be seperated from thier money (which more likely do not have). and NOW will compete alongside other movies which was created under a pretty capitalistic model..........
