Ginger Liu rags on sexist reviewers for calling Julia & Julia a "chick flick," "one for the over 50's," and "for women." She notes "Gi Joe is not reviewed as a 'dick flick', or 'strictly for the boys.'"

I think everyone should start proliferating the term "Dick Flick" immediately.
Julia & Julia is Nora Ephron's new film She also wrote Silkwood, When Harry Met Sally, My Blue Heaven, Michael, and wrote and directed You've Got Mail and Sleepless in Seattle to name a few of my favorites of her many films.

Nora Ephron saw Julie Powell's blog project to read and cook every one of Julia Child's recipes from her book "Mastering the Art of French Cooking". She made the analogy of film directing to cooking as in bringing a lot of different ingredients together.
It's interesting to note that Ephron says she didn't see this a possible film, though she looks at everything she reads as a possible film, I suppose on her quest for the next great story. But somehow she made this one work.
