Wolfgang Petersen Directing a Live-Action Paprika Movie?

Well, nothing could ever even come close to the Paprika anime, but since it will be an adaptation of the novel, it could be ok. Haven't read the book, but I would recommend Paprika to anyone breathing.

    • I'm a skeptical about this. Like video games, live action remakes of anime (especially ones like Paprika) don't tend to work out.

    • Eh Im a little on edge because as GreenScreenCinema said the anime was able to capture so much about space and time manipulation and Im wary of that translating into live action.

Also this guy doesnt exactly have a track record with movies that seems along the vein of Paprika...Troy, Poseidon, Perfect Storm and Air Force One were the last movies he did. Not bad movies (well I heard Troy was atrocious) but more mindless action than anything else...which isnt fitting to the Paprika story.

    • The great thing about the anime was the warping of time and space and the huge scale of the dream characters. You would need a massive special effects budget to capture those things on film. I hope he can do it!

    • I really like the anime adaptation of Paprika; it allowed Satoshi Kon to achieve a lot of things a live-action film couldn't do well. But I haven't read the book, so I have no idea s to how faithful the anime adaptation was/is.

    • I just hope the ending makes sense this time. When I watched the anime the final stand off with the villain was a little baffling.
