Some of the most successful movies of the past ten years are based on comic books. But the comic books they're based on aren't seeing an increase in sales. Why is that? Part 1 of 3.

    • It is the other way around, comic book readers will go see the movies just like people that read the Harry Potter books will see the movies.

      But there isn't as much overlap in the other direction since the demographic for comic books is narrower than those for movies.

      You're right. It was after I read his post that I thought I had enough to say that it warranted its own.

      Argon:
      I'm not sure I agree. That's like saying the audience for the Harry Potter movies and the Harry Potter books didn't overlap, which clearly they did. And each time a new movie came out, all the previous books re-entered the best seller lists. So why can't comic book publishers capitalize on films in the same way?
