Tough Guise: Violence Media and the Crisis in Masculinity

peoplesmovement
The question that really comes out of this is ‘why are boys behaving in this way?' ‘Why is 90% of violence committed by boys and men?' It's not just in these few places (like video games or movies) but it's in what passes for normal culture. It is part of the normal training and conditioning and socializing of boys and men. That's a point that a lot of people don't want to hear, but if you look at the culture these kids are immersed in, violence is a normal, natural part, not just of the world, but of being masculine or being a male person in the world. • Well to be honest, I don't think it's so much that women don't contribute to violence or even have their own "macho" moments, I think it's mostly that when they do, it's considered not that serious or even more so, a joke. We live in such a shovenist world today, usually under the guise of change "women can serve" but not in the jobs that get credit or are praised, and when they do it's usually assumed that they did something sexual to get such jobs. "women can work" but still are generally paid less then men, sometimes for the same jobs. simple fact is, men are praised for being violent these days, and when women are "they're just on the rag"
