Paul W.S. Anderson will produce a 3D version of The Three Musketeers. (Excuse me a moment while I shake my head and roll my eyes.)
Based on the oft-retold 1844 story by Alexandre Dumas, The Three Musketeers follows the adventures of a young man named d’Artagnan who makes his way to Paris to fulfill his dream of becoming a Musketeer of the Guard. Along the way he teams up with The Three Musketeers — Athos, Porthos and Aramis. Anderson wrote the script with Andrew Davies. The plan is to modernize the story — but to keep it in a period setting. Filming will begin next year for a 2011 release.
Anderson is best known for directing the Resident Evil and Alien vs. Predator. He most recently directed Death Race starring Jason Statham.

Modernize in a period setting? So that's like "We will rock you" and Nike swishes in "A Knights Tale?"
Ok, really. No thanks. T3M has been done well once (Richard Chamberlin) and has been done real fun once (Jack Bauer, Chris Odonnell, Charlie Sheen, et al). This is un-needed. Especially since the best Dumas story is "The Count of Monte Cristo" which has only been done well in the Gerald Dipardeau BBC-TV version.
