And Just Who Did What to Whom? Surprise!!

“Surprise” is a 1 1/2-minute stylish short thriller directed by Ben Dodd, which was commissioned for a special showcase at the Tate Modern Museum in London. The film tells a very tragic story as it unfolds from the end to the beginning. It’s a “Hitchcockian” film-noir, where a vengeful romantic murder is not at all what it seems. The dramatically circuitous and shadowy film leaves you wondering about just who did what to whom…Surprise!!

This piece includes a number of b&w photographs from the film, as well as the suspenseful short film-noir, “Surprise.”

Please visit my website to view the photographs and to watch this 1 1/2 min. extremely imaginative short film:

    • Disembedded do you know the definition of noir. It is black. Do you mean dark black as opposed to light black? I don't mean to offend you though. It is a fair movie review otherwise. I'm thumb upping it.

ankab, do you know the definition of film-noir? its a movie genre. i dont think the translation of noir into black really matters, 'film noir' is a genre. and referring to it as dark, im sure disembedded was referencing its tone. of course, most film noir is dark, i guess thats how noir ended up in its genre title, but this one is a little darker, i guess. so yeah, there is light noir and dark noir.
