(As is filmsoundoff's occasional custom and because of its potential importance, we run two reviews of The Road. Critic Alex Roberts thought the film near perfect.)

Of all the doomsday scenario and post-apocalyptic films in recollection, none has endeavored to present such a grimly plausible and frighteningly vivid portrait as “The Road.” Based on Cormac McCarthy’s highly acclaimed novel, this adaptation by director John Hillcoat is, like the book, both a gripping meditation on a spent planet and a poignant exploration of familial love and the will to survive.
